The Little Skinny
I forget whats its called you the skinny solution hose that Joe sells. Is that the most flexible and easy to mange hose out there? It's the only hose I've ever owned so I have nothing to compare it to. When Im cleaning with it its cool but when I try and put it back on it always gets twisted and knotted. Do you like your hose What are you guys using?
Re: The Little Skinny
My favorite used to be the Raptor hose with its slick almost plastic-like coating. The stuff held the heat better than just about any hose that I've used, but would also knot up pretty bad if not on a reel....all hose does really.
I've been using the Skinny now for at least a year and haven't felt the need to shop around. They hold up well and remain flexible.
The key for me to avoid kinks is to heat them up. When hot, they coil up really nice and I lay them flat instead of hanging them if not using a reel.

That's the reason I don't use steal braided hose.........I hate the way it knots and kinks up.
Synflex, or Peraflex for me.......non braided.

Re: The Little Skinny
True, but it is really nice to be able to use field crimps to build a shorter piece or field repairs....not doing that with Peraflex.
Re: The Little Skinny
Really?......doesn't work huh?
Joe, sold me some of those DIY ends, and said they would work on my hose, no?.....I've never tried them, haven't had the need.

Re: The Little Skinny
So the braided hoses are stronger but the conduct more heat and are stiffer. Non braided are easier to work with and wont burn grass or carpet but not as strong?
Dave you ever experience black death with the non braided.
I think Ill try the non braided 100 footer followed by 50 ft little skinny and 50 ft skinny.

Maybe there is a field clamp for that style now, I dunno. I thought they were just for the steel braided.
I haven't needed to make a field repair, but I do use them to take old segments and build short lines for various usages....courtesy hot water line for example or maybe a transfer line. Simple and hold as well as a factory crimping.

Ken is that a steel braided hose
Re: The Little Skinny
If the crimp works on non braided hose that would make a lot easier to cut. Test it out Dave see of it holds under high pressure.milspec6 wrote:Maybe there is a field clamp for that style now, I dunno. Â I thought they were just for the steel braided.

I haven't had to use the field crimp yet either but then gain I hadn't blown a tire on the van either till yesterday
Re: The Little Skinny
The schieffer skinny is only available through JB I think ? And last time I talked to him, he said that he no longer order from them and that he's switching to chinese made pressure hoses ?
So if you want to get some schieffer skinny, you should call JB soon before he runs out.
If anyone knows where to get some of those hoses from other sources please post, just in case JB runs out and I need some in the future, I like that hose.

Re: The Little Skinny
Skinny for us too, used parker paraflex for years and its a huge upgrade. The paraflex is annoying with all that memory until it heats up
never had an issue with kinks or knots, U sure its skinny you have mo? comes off the reel in perfect figure 8s and then just winds right back up

Re: The Little Skinny
Im pretty sure it is AC. It does come off the reel easy I just wrap the first 100 feet around my shoulder and take it in the house. But after cleaning and its been on the ground in get kinked so putting it away that's when it gets knotted up.
Do you guys lay the braided hose straight out before you put in on the reel. If I do that first then its not so bad.
But you know how when you reel up you vac hose and you get to a twisted part its easy unwrap and continue reeling it up. That's how I would want reel in the solution hose. Maybe Im just being bitching

Re: The Little Skinny
For me, I do lay the hose out straight (or at least not coiled up) and reel it up. I will also hold the qc end in my hand as I reel it in so that it doesn't dance across the cement and get ruined.
It never gives me a problem when worked warm...not sure why it is fighting you Mo. When it is well below freezing, it can be a war, but I can't blame the hose for that.

Then ditch the PITA heavy steal braided hose, and get some real hose!
I'd bet my 300' of hose on my reel weighs lest than one 50' section of that braided stuff you guys are using. And I can over/under coil it 10 times faster, and real it back up twice or three times as fast too.

Re: The Little Skinny
I know that you can, but the one time that I tried them it was 12 degrees out and I was acting out the scene in King Kong when he fights the giant snake.
The next time I tried it on a warm day, it got a pinch cut when a sliding store entry ran over it.
I love the concept, but it doesn't fit my needs.

Re: The Little Skinny
Maybe its my cold water extraction method that Ive employing.
So you guys agree that steel braided hoses get hotter?
Cool thing about the non braided hose is that there's less chance of getting electrocuted in a lightening storm while cleaning

Re: The Little Skinny
Wow, that's a big snake!
I have no idea if braided gets hotter, I wasn't able to get past the other issues I had with it to really know........but it makes sense it would retain heat better. At least it does that better huh?
If you haven't noticed I HATE braided hose!

Re: The Little Skinny
You're right Mo. I was just doing some digging myself to see what the differences would be. I zoomed in on the pic and it has SUS on it which designates Skinny. Regular Scheiffer is SUSV. Skinny is .48" and Regular is .55" in outer diameter. Either one would probably be a good choice.
So there you go DP. You now know of several other vendors for it and how to tell the hoses apart to get the one you want.

You guys might want to hold out for his chinese one. It will probably be cheaper than the Schiefer
