No one to clean matress
Today my friend calls and says customer needs mattress cleaned because cat peed. I call customer and she says she called 5 companies and no one wants to clean mattress and I tell her I'll be right there then I'll tell you how much. There in 8 minutes and looked at mattress informed her of what needs to be done pres-prayed and HWE turned out beautiful. Wonderful $'s for a few minutes of work and will return in a couple of weeks to do carpets and vct for her move out.

I clean them all the time, it's really no different than cleaning upholstery.

Re: No one to clean matress
only thing is if liquid soaks in it goes deep.
you can still sterilize and clean the surface, no different than a cushion.
If an animal pees on a couch cushion and it soaks in really bad then they need to replace the cushion itself
just a thought as to why the other companies wouldnt clean it, maybe they figured it soaked into the mattress too far to extract it

No problem, I've done it many times over the last couple years, and completely removed urine odor that had soaked into the foam.
It's now possible with all the great odor removers on the market now, Technology is great, use it to your advantage, or risk your comp. doing so and loosing that customer.
It's better to be the hero, than the zero that 'can't do it'.

Re: No one to clean matress
I watched a video once that the best way to clean a love seat was to soak it until all the water drained through the bottom. Then I watched a friend who soaked the crud out of a microfiber couch and made me nervous just watching him. I'm not brave enough for a soaking I'll try chemistry and less water if possible.

Re: No one to clean matress
Yeah I wouldn't do that Brian, too much risks, such as Mold, Mildew, the super thin fabric on the bottom of the sofa / LS ripped or deteriorated from all those water dripping, and the list is going to get longer.
Like Dave said, use the right solutions and chemicals and technology we have now, and we can eliminate most of the odors if not all, just stay away from rabbit's urine, that stuffs will NEVER come out, I treated and cleaned an area rug 5 times and the odor remains, that's the one thing I would walk away from, not to mention the smell is awful, yuck

Does white vinegar work on rabbit urine.http://www.rabbit.org/care/tips99.html Found this article from house rabbit society.
Having grown up around all the different farm animals rabit and mink urine did stink. My friend had lots of them and I didnt like going around the pens because of the odor. They had to be cleaned all the time.

Re: No one to clean matress
It might work but have to be careful using it on area rugs due to color loss risks.

Re: No one to clean matress
I would venture to say that most cleaners don't clean mattresses because they don't want to mess with bodily fluids, even though we do every day
Re: No one to clean matress
That's why we wear rubber gloves, right?
And maybe a Tyvek suit, and goggles if it's bad.
