A tip for your cat owning customers
They love this info!!
How you can help Prevent cats from Peeing outside the Litter Box?
Make the litter box an attractive elimination spot. Cats need three things from their litter box: privacy, cleanliness, and space.
•Privacy: cats prefer some peace and quiet for elimination. Keep your cat’s box in a quiet low traffic area away from noisy fans or washing machines.
•Cleanliness: your cat’s sense of smell is much stronger then a human’s; make sure to scoop everyday, and completely dispose of litter and wash the box out with unscented dish soap once a week.
•Space: many litter boxes are too small. Purchase larger litter boxes without domed lids. Fill litter up only half way, no more.

Re: A tip for your cat owning customers
Good tips, allow me to add some.
1. Don't use one brand of litter, mix it up. Cats are more prone to use the box that way.
2. If the box isn't kept clean and fresh, they will often go elsewhere. Most of the time, into the floor registers.
When you run into one of the "cat houses" and you can't seem to get the odor under control despite hitting the carpet with a bazooka of chemicals....check the duct work. Much of the time, that is where the problem will be located.
What you don't want to do is place a Halloween decoration (skull that reacts to motion with moving eyes and a shout of "Where are you going" for example) next to the litter box.
Don't ask me how I know, but lets just say that there was some extra clean up involved after that.

Re: A tip for your cat owning customers
Good info. My daughter tried to bring a cat home. I had to lay down the law and deny that request. I'm already taking care oh "her" dog

Re: A tip for your cat owning customers
certain breeds of cats just should not be brought in the home.. like ferrel cat I think its called
everytime a customer has one, especially a male ferrel cat the house is ruined
mancoon, or persian those are good pets and easy to train
but I prefer dogs

Re: A tip for your cat owning customers
Anyone who grew up on a farm has lived with cats....also probably shot a few as well. I have both in my history.
The one thing about cats that I like are that they are good comic relief. As a kid, we had one that demanded attention to the point that he would position himself in front of the tv and block your view until you paid attention to him. He would bob and weave his head if you try to look around him, which is why we called him Ali.
That cat drove my Dad crazy!! I still have good memories of him, but it is also very true that a cat can / will destroy a home if you don't pay it enough attention.
Make them angry and they urinate on your favorite chair when you are sleeping...true fact.

Re: A tip for your cat owning customers
Im not an idoor cat person but I did have one and no other cat has held a candle to this one....he really thought he was a dog, he would fetch, wag his tail, back talk....and anyone that knows me does not back talk me....so my family named him Schiz as in Schizophreniac.....he would do things to piss me off, he was a legend in my family...even today many years later we talk about him and how his balls should have out weighed him. I liked him because he was a bad ass. He grew up with a Great Dane and every other dog was small to him.

So, we both had psycho cats......yet another similarity.
