Re: Have a great 4th everyone!
My neighbors have been celebrating enough for the both of us over the last week.
When you are fighting for 3 hours of sleep, the last thing you want to hear is crap blowing up against your siding. I'm all for the fun, but after midnight on a weekday is really going to far.
Another holiday ruined for me by jerks. Can't run in the streets without getting shot full of bottle rockets and nobody with a job gets to have any sleep....I think I prefer Columbus Day.

By the way, keep a count on how many homes you find the US Flag flying on this weekend. If it is like the last few years, it will be less than 10% and there will be almost as many Mexican flags flying.
Probably going to be a few Confederate Battle flags this year as well. What a sad education system we have these days...both in schools and in homes.
Fly them proudly folks!!

Thanks and you guys too, I want to fly the flag all year long, but California heat would just eat up the fabric in a few weeks

Re: Have a great 4th everyone!
Well, I just returned from my nightly run around town. I can actually circle it in less than 7 miles, so I get a full view of the city.
Flag count was worse than last year at less than 10%. The only good part was that I didn't see any foreign flags this time around and did see an elderly gentleman come out and salute his flag before taking it down at nightfall.
There is a live band playing in the park and every street corning is a combat zone of fireworks where neighbors have combined their displays into an all-out show.
Despite the need to dodge the explosions, it was an enjoyable run seeing all the kids out having fun while the adults sat on the porch with a drink and food on the grille.
Despite the lack of flags and that most probably have no clue what this holiday is about, it at least looked like people were enjoying it.
Hope you all did as well.

Texas displays Flags year round and is proud when it comes to that flag....it spills over into my area as im not far from the border. We had a huge yearly display at our big park and I couldnt imagine trying to count flags. The city was lit up well last night.
