Do you use Flyers or postcards?
In the past we never really did any flyers except during holidays as we pushed hard during winter....But I was curious if you guys had any postcards, flyers or some other magic bullet? I did well with postcards for both my company's and was thinking about doing a new design for one......maybe a special but not one that gives away the farm....maybe even offer more value rather than a discount.
Would be great if someone could show some pics of one they use..

Have you heard of Every Door Direct Mail form the USPS? This is a yellow page add I used when I first started and was VLM only
Re: Do you use Flyers or postcards?
Not a post card mailer, but I found good success using these door knob hangers and magnetic business card.
Re: Do you use Flyers or postcards?
Hey guys, those are nice! how are the results when using them?...I recall have several but one did major things for me....I recently moved and im desperately looking for the magic one I had...when I find it I will post it. Thanks for sharing these.

Re: Do you use Flyers or postcards?
I've never mailed out post cards. But have done flyers and door hangers many times, and never had any success to speak of with them. I think the market is too saturated around here for them to be worth the time and effort. And now that most everyone is looking online for whatever they want, I can't see wasting my time on print ads really anymore.

Re: Do you use Flyers or postcards?
Davey is probably correct on the saturation aspect. Around here, you get about a dozen flyers from either pizza delivery or roofers in a given week.
I have never called the roofer, but if I was hungry, the pizza flyer got used. Carpet cleaning can be the same way, if they were already thinking about having the carpets cleaned....you got their attention.
IF they aren't looking already, your stuff hits the trash with the roofer. The problem is, how do you know if they were already looking?

Re: Do you use Flyers or postcards?
Does most of your business come from your website or some form of internet (angies, yelp etc)?....also, do you have the mobile website? I gotta tell ya, alot has changed over the past 12 years. At one time it was a matter of putting ads in the yellow pages and then run on reputation....now an ad will just not perform. We throw away phone books if we even see one.
Angies and Yelp dont seem to be the game around here best I can tell.

AL and Yelp is where it's at for me.
I get 10-25 fliers, cards, crap on my door step every week, and they all go in the trash.
In 21 years, I've only called one for service, a tree trimmer.

I only get the Wednesday junk mail and thats it....I think postcards would do better than what im thinking in my area. Yelp and Angies hasnt really formed here ....maybe in the bigger cities its working here but not mine....wish it was actually.

Re: Do you use Flyers or postcards?
In my area of small towns, we still burn witches, so the internet hasn't been generating much action. I gave up on them about a year ago and even the website is probably down by now.
Every market is different it seems and we still roll by word of mouth and referrals in this area.
Heck, most of the residents never left these towns after High School and they all know each other. Good rep. and you get jobs, bad rep and you might as well be a witch.

Thats the feel here milspec....only thing is, we are a small college town too and many are internet strong. I think I will set my website up first and then see where that goes.

Re: Do you use Flyers or postcards?
Yeah Devon get that website up and running with some SEO or maybe AdWords both of those would be a better banng for the buck
Re: Do you use Flyers or postcards?
I used to use advo missing child card, a penny and a half for printing and delivery for each household, advo was bought by Valassis about 8 - 9 years ago, they discontinued missing child card then.
Even when I used the post card ( missing child card ), it works in some areas and it doesn't work in other areas, every demographic is different, the one thing you need to avoid is getting into a contract without knowing for sure the media will work for your industry or not, your best bet is online first because it's cheaper than direct mail and no contract for most, like Google adwords, if it doesn't work just click stop and that's it, but I would say you need to give each media at least 2 months and really track your ROI by asking every caller where do they find you, if you are running 2 - 3 different media of advertisements.
Get as much online reviews as possible, even if you don't think people look at them in your area, eventually they will look at them and they will help you in getting good customers.
