What time do you schedule your first job for the day?
What time do you tell customer you can start the first job? Do you leave a gap based on job size for the next stop or do you give customer a time frame like between 2 and 3 how do you do it?
Im fortunate and only want two maybe three a day so its easy to hit my times...if I ever run a little late or early I just call and make mention...they seem to like the heads up.

First job is at 9:00 am....no earlier.
Second job starts at 2 pm.
This is only on residential of course. Commercial is late night stuff.

8 - 10 am, the next one depend on how big the 1st one is, if the 1st one is up to 3 rooms, then the next one is 9 - 11, and it kept going depending on how big each job is and how far apart they are, the latest one if we're busy is usually between 4 - 6 pm, those are all window of arrival time due to traffic in LA is horrible

Earliest I have done is 7 AM by request. Normally I'll start at 8 - 9 AM.

Same three slots as you Devon with 1 hour windows the last two slots
Re: What time do you schedule your first job for the day?
90% of the time: 10am is first job. I really don't do earlier, unless its real busy and a long time customer needs me.
I don't do a big window of time for arrival. Usually 15 min of the appointed time. 98% meet that arrival time! I don't have travel grid lock like big cities.
-I do slots times based on the size of the job. I can guestimates real good how long a 3-4 area OR a 8-10 area job.

Re: What time do you schedule your first job for the day?
My first job is given a smaller window than second and third jobs as they are less likely to run late due to circumstances encountered on earlier jobs.
I always prefer a window over an exact time if possible to help deter clock-watching sticklers.
I consider a heads-up call a must for many reasons, and always tell the customer I will give such a call when I am heading to them during the initial scheduling.
Not only does it avoid leaving customers in limbo, but it can help avoid being stood up or wasting your own time waiting for a customer if they themselves are behind schedule.
I try to steer first scheduled appointments of any particular day towards the afternoon if at all possible so I can try to keep the morning slot available to any other potential customer who truly needs an early appointment, as opposed to someone who merely prefers it.
I find that the early morning time slot to be a "premium", and is the one time slot I am most often unable to accommodate as opposed to all others, so I try to keep them open as long as I can if at all possible so I can better maximize my bookings.
