Charity Drive Empty Charity Drive

Post by milspec6 Fri Oct 09, 2015 8:18 pm

I was buying groceries today and they asked me if I wanted to round up the bill with the extra going to ALZ research. Sounded like a great idea to me and I stuck around to watch for the reactions of other customers. You know what? Almost 65% agreed to donate the difference.....I was surprised. Shocked

I think I am going to do the same on residential jobs....ask them to round up the bill and donate the difference. It seems like a great way to raise money for various causes as people really didn't blink at the rounding off of the bill.

Maybe even coordinate with other cleaners in the area for a "Cleaners against Cancer" drive.

What do you guys think about the idea? I am really liking it and could use some more good Karma as my luck seems to be on the decline lately.

We give solely to St Jude's! Ive made them my charity of donation 100% when I get asked I tell them we give to St Jude's I love the place and its children and cancer.

We may implement this as well. How much was the round-up? is it the change they round to the next dollar? or round up from like $56 to $60?

You know, its funny that when the customer asks for the total you can easily say Its $167.80 or if you want to give to St Jude's make it for a flat $170.....the ease of writing that check makes a yes almost every time.

It rounds up just like in your example....nearest $10 mark.

It is amazing how much people seem to prefer a round number and go along with it without fussing. I know I am that same way, look at tipping the waitress...I round the bill up to whole tenth spot as well.

I think it is a great way to raise funds for charity.
