Bentley Swivel Carbon Fiber 14" Empty Bentley Swivel Carbon Fiber 14"

Post by Fuzzsucker Mon Oct 28, 2013 4:38 pm

Alright my long awaited review of the Bentley Swivel Carbon Fiber 14"

For background I own or used to own the following wands for comparison:
Aw29
Cmp14
Prochem titanium
Prochem quadjet
And now the Bentley
All of which with misc glides and stainless soft touch valves.

This tool will take some getting used to. The swivel head at first feels like cleaning with an angry snake, but after a few rooms it feels very natural and I can say my back and shoulder dont hurt as much after a day of use. I can only credit this to the more natural motion that your body may want to hold opposed to the more rigid nature of a traditional wand that forces your body in to a position.

The swivel quickly becomes a feature that you cant live without in occupied homes. You can easily work your way around furniture, into closets and under beds. The low profile edges of the head shape prove even more useful for under dressers and cabinets.

The swivel does come with its issues. The head must be greased periodically and the tool can be cumbersome to get to lay on its back and get back to cleaning.

The handle of the unit was a constant source of irritation. It would not stay put no matter how much I tighten it or the use of locktight. I finally moved it to the larger section of the tool and had to bend it to get it to stay. The trigger portion also being a clamp on style would loosen alot as well. I attributed this and the handle issue to the nature of the carbon fiber being more slick than steel. Thats just my guess.

I chose a hybrid greenglide and Joes high sheer kit for the tool and been very happy with dry times. Can't see any significant improvement or loss over anything else I have used.

Overall I love the tool for occupied homes and commercial where u need to get in tight spaces. Empty homes and wide open commercial a traditional wand beats wins in the speed category for sure. I think this is great tool to have for the owner operator but for larger operations the moving parts would prove to be an issue.

Hope this helps anyone considering a purchase. Smile

I will second that, nice tool for residentials after you get used to it. I only have 2 complaints:

1. Weight of the hose sits too far back on the handle in relation to the trigger. Makes me have muscle the wand a little. On residentials, no problem, but if you are wanding several hours, it becomes an issue.

2. Way too much over-spray with the stock manifold (at least on my version).

I still find it a great tool to navigate an apartment or home with narrow closets. It has excellent recovery and has held up well despite being abused....just don't like the mainifold.

Joe Bristor wrote:Fuzz sucker - you got the earliest version of their pressure gun handle. I hear it's better now.

Milspec - you may like the high shear kit.
I make one and now Jerry Valentine does too. A good guy, who came up with a new way of tucking the jets up behind the head so they're less likely to drag.

Sounds good...thanks for the update Joe. I will contact Jerry tomorrow.

Hey Joe thanks for all your help with the parts I needed to come up the Bentley manifold.

On the 14 inch head I'm running 5 jets ,4 on the 12 inch . No more over spray, or digging jets in the carpet. My 2 guys really like the bentelys now and won't go back to the greenhorns.

I'm making 5 more manifolds to go out to guys for more testing and feed back. I,ll let you know the feedback from them.

I am still using the original spray bar on my 14" Bentley. It is the Stainless with a swivel and OLD style gun handle. I am willing to try anything that can improve on what I think is a very good wand.

Why do these guys slip in hang out steal the beer and then not pay the tab. It's very weird. No hard feelings but it sure does make you look at things differently. With all the whacked out things folks say about Joe he still hangs around and knocks backs some beers and even buys a few rounds. He even will stir up a good fight just for the fun of it. But he never weirds out like these other cats. Just strange.

Sorry , sorry . I got busy and distracted and did,nt ck in here .
I'm always tinkering with something and I do have to go to work aswell. But anyhow.

First of . Your right Joe I did,nt  bring your name up on bob,s board . As I don't think there,s any love lost between the two of you. And I really don't want to be the cause of any drama on anyone's board.

Anyone I've talked on the phone about what I've made I always tell them where I got the help and parts from. As in Joe Bistor

The wand I sent down to Mytee has many other changes to it , and I'm not set up to make anything but a few prototypes to make sure they work for guys in the field . I'm only into making great tools fantastic .
Much as I'd like to build them and sell . I got to know my limits .

I do hope you will send me the stuff we talked about so I can promote you and your products   At the ICEEXPO in jan as I said I would .
