Cornered up my customer!
I went and quoted a job a week ago and scheduled it...when I got there she quickly asked how much we were charging again....I told her....then she whips out my competitions invoice from a previous cleaning and says he did it for this amount.....$100 cheaper...I noticed the square footage and our rates were about the same.....so, I said I can clean what he cleaned for the about the same price BUT I wasn't more expensive, I was just cleaning more....she proceeded to say thanks for dropping my price...I said, I didn't drop price...I dropped footage to be cleaned....I only measured what you said you wanted cleaned....I can be cheaper than him by $20 if you want BUT I will clean less than he did....I also asked why she called me if she had his invoice and info readily available? She said my name came with a referral and she wanted to try us....(trying to make me compete with this guy) So, instead of getting aggravated I did everything I knew to do to be amazing! she was impressed and happy! wanted cards etc.....then as we talked I noticed some really nice photos of family on the wall and complimented them....SHE is a photographer! and does it for a living, I told her we need to get some done and my wife used XXXXX last time.....she mentioned that she was very expensive and not like the other companies....then she smiled and said sorry! She knew then she screwed up....she knew she tried to get my prices down and it didnt work, as a matter a fact I said Im sorry and I will be glad to get out of her hair and let the other company come and do it. I was ready to split....lol she knew damn well she wanted me. I also know I want her to take our family photo's ....she is amazing!...Im going to take the invoice from last time we had photos done though.....lol

People like that irritate me. She sells a premium service, but wants to degrade your service to janitor's work.
Once in a while, I'll bid a house that is worth A LOT of money. Give my bid and they act like I am trying to take their last dime. Yet, they are moving in a new fridge when I am giving an estimate, that costs 4 times my estimate.
Lol. Cheap people.

Re: Cornered up my customer!
It isn't that they are cheap....they will spend fortunes on things that they value and desire. In our case, a carpet cleaner is neither valued nor desired. In most cases, they only call us to maintain their carpet warranty...even though it really isn't very enforceable anyway.
Personally, I wouldn't use that photographer no matter how good her work might be....I have little patience for rudeness.

Had to give you points for that Rob. You worded it better than me.
