I started out replacing blower belts on my Everest(2.5 hrs). That is a 2 man job. I must have gone from the cab to the cargo area and back to the cab 30 times. All the bolts that needed to be loosened. Adjusting the blower to tighten, OR loosen(if I over tightened) to get the right amount of tension in the belt. AND making sure the pulleys are in line. I think I had to re-do 3 x to get right. My hands are hurting and scraped up.
-hmmmmm, can't remember if I put the anti-freeze over flow tank back in place?

Then to top that off---I noticed the belts for the pump are really cracked. Sheeesh.

Then I went and do 2 rentals. 1 I had to lay hose out thru a minefield of doo.

I am so glad that I didn't have that kind of fun today. It was in the single digits all day and although I had planned on doing some maintenance...once the windchill hit me, I chose other tasks.

Sounds like a very worthwhile day for you in the end.

Can you add a belt tensioner to that Everest? It's just not right have to spend that much time and effort to replace belts.

My day sucked. My orbot broke down in the middle of a job. I need to replace the bearings on the counterweight assembly I just replaced maybe 2 years ago

Glad to see someone else is having fun like I do. Lol
My shop is so crowed right now I have to roll up the garage door just to get from one side to the other. Got to change a temp controller and service a prochem 405 probably change ths same belts then drop the van fuel tank to fix the fuel tap. Lots of fun but having to drive in the ice and snow in the cold priceless !

1. There is NO extra room for mods. I had to remove: air filter, anti-freeze resvior, safety cage around the belts/pulleys, and some screws holding wires in place, and the white metel engine cover---just to expose the belts.
2. When moving the blower to adjust the tightness of the belt-were talking a few millimeters of movement. 1/4".
And I just replaced those belts a year ago. 12 cracks and 3 chunks(1") knocked out in the belt closet to the engine. The other-1 crack?
-2 mech's suggested going with a rib'd belt. Less stress on the rubber when going around the smaller pulley.  Those are on order and should be here tomorrow-soooo I will be doing this again to put the rib'd belts on. After all my experience in doing this, I should be able to do the replacement in 1.5 hrs this time.

Then after the 2 jobs the 'service engine' lite went on. 1 blink then 2 blinks. PC owners will know what that means.

That's the reason why I don't do belt replacements on my everests, and I only use bando belts to extend the life of my belts, I usually get a couple of years out of my belts.
