Re: Judson TNT Refurbish
Yeah that's it I like it best but can't always use it because of the way it mounts. The tnt regulator being mounted to the pump works. Like I said you have to add a tee to the bottom then connect the high pressure line to the tee the other side is the one that goes to the water Bx.

Re: Judson TNT Refurbish
I think I maybe losing pressure due to a leak in the heat exchanger. I lost pressure again today so I bypassed the HX and finished the job.
Re: Judson TNT Refurbish
If you have a leak in the hx you would have water coming out of the exhaust. you could be having cavitation in the heat exchanger meny you got steam. that might be the pressure drop. If you laid th wand down or didn't trigger the wand for a while. Most hx systems will dump eccess hot water to control temp. Even though you may not have the best temp at the wand when using it, if not triggered no water movement the temp continues to rise.

Re: Judson TNT Refurbish
Not noticing any water out of the HX exhaust and I lost pressure after cleaning just the half of one room. Maybe it is the regulator.
Re: Judson TNT Refurbish
Check out the old muffler. I put some temporary gunk on there till I got a new one. it was very temporary
How much of an increase in temps on the HX do you guys think I will gain? The winner of the contest get a slightly used muffler. I believe the last reading was 160 with 10 feet of hose

Count me out of this one, Mo...........contest that is, I'll win the next one that has value.

Keep the muffler but I'll guess 20 degrees

Re: Judson TNT Refurbish
Hey Eddie or anyone else.
I thing screwed up and bought a 500 psi relief valve for the HX. Should I have purchased a 1000 PSI relief valve or a temperature relief valve? Im hoping this will solve the pressure loss problem.

Re: Judson TNT Refurbish
Both, 1000 psi and 200 degree.
Although if are cleaning at less than 500 you can get buy with what you have.
200 degree should help with the cavitation problem as water starts to boil at 212 so keeping it around the 200 mark should alleviate that problem.

Re: Judson TNT Refurbish
I have a check valve laying around. For the sake of testing, can I put that at the inlet side of the HX and the pressure relief valve at the outlet side to see if cavitation is the reason Im loosing pressure?

Disregard that I think I would rather blow up mu pump than my face
Re: Judson TNT Refurbish
Put both on the outlet side temp first press second. Inlet side from pump is cold water in.

Re: Judson TNT Refurbish
Yeah pretty good increase. Im wondering how much of an increase I can get if I plumb the exhaust directly to the HX.
But it doesn't do me any good if every time I hook up my 100 foot hose I get no water coming out. I can add my wand or sprayer wand and get water all day long
It happened again today. Two trigger pulls and I lost all pressure. It works fine if I don't use the heater

Re: Judson TNT Refurbish
Sounds like a blockage / back pressure might be causing the pump to bypass to me. Clean out that Hx and see if there is any change.
I had a similar thing happen with a strainer attached to my water softener tank. The added resistance kept turning off my fill valve on the fresh water tank.

Re: Judson TNT Refurbish
I'll try that Rob. But would it work with the 10 foot hose?
I have no idea who makes this heat exchanger. Right now I have the water out connected to the exhaust in side of the heat ex changer. Is that the way it supposed to be or do I have it backwards? Does it matter?

Re: Judson TNT Refurbish
I have only seen hx like that with John's Custom Machine and over at Cobb's Carpet Supply, but there may be others.
It would only matter if there is a check valve in there somewhere, which might be the source of the resistance. If no check in place, it should just free flow.

Re: Judson TNT Refurbish
Right. It doesn't have one.
I have a little giant in my garage whispering in my ear. " Why are you messing with this heat exchanger crap? Just connect me."

Re: Judson TNT Refurbish
Try it Mo switch the in and out lines and test it out. I would have connected the same way, but try it and see. Flushing it out can't hurt but if it works with one hose and not the other that makes no sense. Try another long hose if it has a cut off on it try taking the end off then open the cutoff to check water flow.

Re: Judson TNT Refurbish
Check this out guys. I did some carpet and upholstery today. I didn't want to mess with HX so I connected directly to machine for the carpet. But I decided I would connect to the HX for the upholstery and it worked with no problems.
WTF?
WTF?

Re: Judson TNT Refurbish
I took this T off the machine. The pressurized water in and out to QD at panel, top part to pressure gauge. What is the pin at the bottom of the T for?
