Dry master uph tool
I have this tool and never really liked it. Uses too much water amd didn't really think it cleaned well. I'm i missing something. I seem to prefer the jet type.

The water flow is controlled by how much you turn the valve open on the tool.
But I understand your feeling about the jet style.

I understand fully about the jets, still like seeing that spray. Might want to look at the hydro-kinetic tool instead. It does a good job and has that jet feel.
I think the sapphire tool is still the better tool as it cleans faster for me, but that HK tool is a very close second.

Man, I don't get what you guys are saying, it's like your speaking a foreign language.
I've been using the DM for about 2 yrs now and would quit cleaning upholstery I think if I had to go back to a trigger/jet type tool. ....but then again I haven't used the HK of Sapphire tools either. ?
I do agree the DM goes threw a lot of water, but big deal? Just means the recovery tank fills up quicker, and I guess I use more rinse chem. But I personally think that's more than a fair trade off for how much easier/quicker I can clean with it.
Maybe I'm missing something?......like part of my brain?! :geek:

Re: Dry master uph tool
i had the older HM drymaster tool. POS plastic disintegrated over time. I love my internal jet PMF stainless tool. The narrow cleaning end is superb for piping crevices and hard to reach places. I will not buy Plastic tools anymore.
Re: Dry master uph tool
I have both tools, and depending on the fabric as well as style of upholstery, I like the the sapp tool-- but prefer to use the hydra master tool- the water is easy to control and I have an easier time with my hands.

Re: Dry master uph tool
Ive had my dm for 3 yrs. poj. Replaced the head and metal strips thus far. My last job with it last week, hose kept springing up slices.
Had to keep duck tape nearby. Imagine cleaning uph, charging nice coin and your cleaning tool is being held up by duck tape. What the bird man!
Hydramaster needs to totally make over that toilet plunger called Drimaster uph tool.
Im saving up for a sappire uph tool.

Re: Dry master uph tool
I have both sapphire and drimaster, I can't remember the last time I used my drimaster, I do however agree with William, the drimaster tool is easier on my hand, but if I can shave 10 minutes off my cleaning time for a sofa and loveseat, I think that compensate for the soreness at the end of the day ( if any ), however when I used to use drimaster, to save water and detergents, what I did was I steam the heck out of all the surfaces and then I shut the valve off and run quick dry passes if necessary ( white and off white fabrics or natural fibers ).
I heard about the collapsing plates issues in drimaster tool as well as the plastic wears off, mine seems to be ok so far even with high heat.
My recommendations to those who had bad experiences with drimaster tool, look for a used sapphire on craigslist or ebay, or borrow from a friend ( be considerate and keep it clean if you do borrow ) and use it for a week and see if you like it, I bought my first one used off of ebay for $ 300 and ended up envying it :-)

I have the old style drimaster and the new style drimaster. I like both of them. The new style is quicker and easier in my opinion

Re: Dry master uph tool
Do you guys break the DM down and clean the head ect? Is that easy? I just might give this thing another go.

Re: Dry master uph tool
There is an improved version coming out soon (already has a long waiting list), but if you already have one, might as well try and make it work for you.

*!- from my experience(bad!) DO NOT take the DM head pieces apart to clean it out! I did that and could NOT get it back, and seal properly. It leaks.
if you have a little hair ball developing inside; unscrew the hose from the head and use something to reach in and grab the debris.
√ my best advice to all-for 20013. And its free advice. Can't beat that.
Matt
PS- I like the tool and how it functions. SAVEs time.

Same here.
No problems here with the DM. Love not having to pull the trigger, much more comfortable. But have not tried the sapphire.
Re: Dry master uph tool
I've not found it necessary to take apart to clean, but I have taken apart head to replace one of the SS lips/glides or whatever their called.
Ain't no thang!.....went back together just fine and works better after the repair.
