One of my best customers lost her son this morning to a heart attack!

One of my best customers lost her son this morning to a heart attack!
She's really become a friend. Older lady, by herself, has me come out every three months.
I found out through a mutual friend about her son. Fifty one years old, massive heart attack in the shower this morning. She's obviously devastated.
You guys been here before? I want to take a card and some flowers over, but I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT want this to be misinterpreted by anyone as a greedy business opportunity. I'm not going to wear my uniform even though I have a couple of jobs later. It'll be really out of my way, but I'm thinking I'm not even going to take my van.
You guys got any advice?

I live in a big retirement community so I've had quite a few clients loose their significant others but i find out about it the next tine I clean for them. I don't think anyone here or your customer would think you're being opportunistic especially if she's a friend. Now if it was a client that I just talk to when I clean for her I would probably just send a condolence card but that's just me.

That's a tough call. I think I would send a condolence card as well. Probably wait a couple of days to do it as well, so she has a chance to gather her emotions. Most people go through a sorrow phase for a couple of days until they are all cried out. Unless you are really good friends, I would take a couple of days to respond to this matter.
Your gesture will be seen in better light after she gets through the crying phase in my opinion. Like I said, it is a tough call.

Very sorry to heard this type of news , bring the flowers to the funeral if you can and send her a condolence card by mail later
"Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;
Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God." 1Cor 1:3-4

As long as you are not attaching your business name to the flowers or card, I see no harm.

Thanks guys. I just stopped by. No one was home. Best case scenario. I left a card and a small dogwood tree to plant (something we do in our family) at the front door. Nothing business related at all. I'll prob go by the funeral home for the service later.
I just hate people who try to take advantage of emotionally distraught folks. Most of them are found in the funeral business unfortunately.

You made the right call, sounds like it worked out well. It was a fine gesture on your part, hope she gets plenty of support...tough situation.
