Roll out for a TM
Has anyone considered building, duplicating or fabricating a roll out for their TM for easy access to work on it? I've seen a couple of guy's who built some and when it comes out it would have front legs on it like Mo's electric machine would to make it portable.. Just seems in a confined space this would make sense. Of course you would need some parts on quick connects for easy removal.
Re: Roll out for a TM
Seems ez nuf to do, but I've never thought about doing it, being I have plunty of access to mine so I have no need.

Re: Roll out for a TM
would be a cool idea if access isnt easy, you can get super heavy duty tracks online but it would still need feet for sure.
Re: Roll out for a TM
If I can find the pictures I'll post them. It is a cool idea and no more bending over breaking your back in a traditional type van. Basically the whole machine would roll out for ease of maintenance.
Re: Roll out for a TM
Seems like a good idea. My brother uses one for a mobile boat shop that he runs. Slides it out the back of his truck and has 4 tool boxes, a vise, a small welder, and assorted items. His easily holds about 1500 lbs. without any legs.
For a large TM, I would still want legs unless you work out of a box truck or step van.

It has now been done. Look at www.gorillatruckbox.com for an example.

Re: Roll out for a TM
I've seen them, but I could only see it for a rear mounted unit. Itwould seem like a lot stress on the body to frame mounts of the vehicle to slide 600 lbs out the side door 3 or 4 feet.
Out the rear seems workable, but space shouldn't be so tight if that was the position. I've thought about it, just don't trust the stress point. I sure would not want to see my TM hit the ground after the tray broke free sliding out.

Just add some removable legs with wheels like the Work Master ETM if the weight bothers you.
I bet during the summer the truck mount would run cooler being out of the enclosed space, especially on a big commercial job.

Getting that TM out of the van would be a great benefit to both machine and the inside of the vehicle....not to mention no CO build up issues. Your right on the money there.
Re: Roll out for a TM
You guys didn't see the part where they said they have exhaust fan in the slider compartment, did you ?
Besides if you're really worried about the TM got too hot in the summer, just see my video of installing radiator fan in between the front cargo and the TM, that cools it off at least 10 - 20 degrees down, I made it especially for prochem everest to cool down blower belts but overall it helps the temperature issues as well.
However regarding the sturdiness of the slide, I'm with Robert on that, I wouldn't want to see my everest hit the ground head on, that thing is close to 1500 lbs, however if it's rated 2000 lbs I would have to incline to trust it after I see it in action in person.
Very cool idea since everest is so hard to work on, super tight spaces.

Re: Roll out for a TM
I dont think they would be at the point of offering it to the public if the slide out was weak. You can get slide tracks that can hold thousands of pounds. They show a 3500 so that thing has a frame capable of a lot of weight, I think you could get that truck in a dump bed model up to at least a 8000lb dump maybe 12000
Looks like a cool set up but Im guessing for half the price you could have a much larger box truck with a side door and way more room. I can think of a lot of gear that wasnt shown in the pics that would need a home.

I just watched the 360 deg video and browsed that site and I'd say it's totally useless.

Re: Roll out for a TM
not totally its a clean layout but really not much space when u consider all the other stuff u need that they dont show.
Im guessing that truck with box installed your looking at 60k, then add the TM u want, another 20k? no way
I could probably squeeze out 2 14ft regular box trucks WITH TNTs for a little over 60k

Re: Roll out for a TM
Opinions about the design and viability of the unit aside, the question posed was has anyone thought about doing it and is/would it be possible to do.
I posted the link just to show that others have considered it and are trying to make it more common. I like the concept of the box but agree that it may not fit every need of every cleaner. I too would like to see some sort of front support for the machine. I looked online and found some aircraft slides that were rated for 900 lbs. I think I would rather over engineer it and double that weight even though most machines are 900 or less.
Since they are made semi-locally by someone I know, I called for pricing. Depending on the bells and whistles you get, the box alone is 22-25K.

Re: Roll out for a TM
I think that truck looks sweet. Big bonus is not having to ride in the same compartment as your stinky hot machine in the summer. Same goes for a box truck thou. Im sure they want an arm and a leg for thing.

Yes until you have to drive into a basement to reach an apartment unit in the very back of the building
