Why you need two trucks Empty Re: Why you need two trucks

Wise advice sir....I am thinking about doing that very thing this winter. Right now, I have a sub that will let me use his El Diablo if needed, but that only works if the schedules jive.

5 weeks on the blower? I've rebuilt transfer cases with hand tools in 2 days...what is so difficult about a vacuum blower that it would take so long?

Also, good to see you back on the board...hope you make a habit out of stopping by.

Well the Blower was beyond me fixing it so I took it to Rogers Machinery in Seattle to be rebuilt they took over 5 weeks to get it done.
was only to take a week but 5 weeks later I have it back in the machine and ready to work in the morning.

What would you have done? take 5 weeks off or maybe just work with a porty?
what about major engine repairs on the work truck?

It's not really cost effective for me to have money tied up in a second truck just waiting around for use.

My backup plan is having a good buddy who I got into the biz many years ago, who's there for me when needed because I'm there for him when needed.

I'm with Terry in this, we are usually busy on saturdays and if one of our vans decided to take a crap on saturday, that's bad enough already and guess what ? Your buddy / competitors are more likely busy too, so yes back up van is very important, and guys, don't fall into the rip off of truckmount financing companies, they charge way too much, get used decent low hours unit that will last you at least 2 - 3 years, maintain your units even though they're sitting, start them up once or twice a week, spray your blower, don't let your solution and detergents sitting for a long period of time, they will rot and stink up the whole van, I learned that last part the hard way Razz
