studebaker airpath Empty studebaker airpath

Post by procarpet Tue May 06, 2014 6:24 pm

I picked up my first airpath on craigslist for $75 with a little hesitation.  20 minute dry times for average sized bedrooms seemed a little far fetched and proved to be.  These fans do speed up drying, but do not dry them completely.  I have an account where we clean long hallways that transition to tile in the middle.  Fall risks are good so I set an airpath up on the last few feet of carpet and 25 minutes later the carpet is dry, but this is on commercial carpet.  The strengths I'd like to point out are the wide drying path, the casters make moving easy but also lock for hard surface drying and the casing is strong.  They dry tile and vct very quickly and require less moving around than a snail fan.  At almost $600 I don't find this fan appealing, but if you can find on used or wait till they go on sale for around $450 you will find plenty of work for this powerful fan.  They take up a lot of real estate in the van and are bulky to carry.  Also, there isn't a really good way to store the cord.  Shame that all that money can't buy a decent way to wrap the cord up...

Wow, $ 75 is like a gift, lol, great find and thanks on the reviews for it, my buddy / competitor have the small version of them ( don't know what they're called ) and used them on residential nylon carpets and it dries completely in about 20 minutes ( 10 x 10 bedroom ), he was using my machine to clean.

The housings on them are pretty thick, so you can drive a couple of screws in the frame and mount a cord holder or just attach a velcro strap with a single screw.

Great fans, you are correct that they are a little tough to store in a van (I put one between the front seats) and bulky to carry, but they do work well.

And buddy, you got a steal at $75!!

studebaker is or was a really good old school brand of all sorts of stuff.

but 600 for a fan, come on... thats the classic carpet cleaning industry rip off. should be 250-300 at most

there are so many products out there that are so over priced in our industry its ridiculous

It's the blue one. Picked up a brand new one a year later on sale for 400. Then I won a dripod, the three of those fans will dry a big room relatively quick. I use them to dry pantries, small bathrooms closet walls for floods because of the air they move and force it into the holes I drill

We have two, use them often on commercial. PowrFlite Black Max moves more air, but the studebakers (blue ones) are easier to transport and more durable
