With the temps rising be mindful
With the temperature rising be mindful of your sprayers with peroxide in them.

I relieved the pressure but tightened back the lid and left it sitting in the van. Thought in the past that the seals might blow but never expected it rupture the side of the sprayer.

I noticed that last summer too.......the Qt. storage bottle I keep mine in keeps getting fatter as the temps rise....been lucky so far I guess, by noticing and releasing the pressure before it blows, I'm sure one day I'll miss it! Just hope I'm not around when it goes.
Seriously though, what should we do?
Doesn't it go flat if you leave your storage bottle vented??

Gotta be careful overpumping them too. Set one down after spraying and walked away. Heard an explosion and ran to see what happened. The top was about 10 feet away, must have been cool to watch. Glad I put my pump ups outside when I'm done. On that note, does anyone have a pump up that doesn't have to be thrown away every few months? They sell rebuild kits, but come on those fail faster than the originals
Re: With the temps rising be mindful
I try not to mix more than I will use on a job when its hot outside. i put my peroxide in a cooler in the van and mix at location. Yeah its's a pain in the a$$ but it's better than peroxide exploding on you. Any peroxide 7% or above if it gets in your eye will cause blindness. I just took my new peroxide out of the plastic bag and realized that there was some residue on the bottle when my skin started to burn and turn white. This only took about 10-20 seconds with 27.5 % peroxide. It hurt for hours but didn't leave a mark. Got lucky. This is about more than your equipment getting damaged. It can be a life altering event.
Thanks for the heads up Larry.

I have had far better luck with metal sprayers, but even they become junk after a few months. I really hate pump-ups, always try to avoid using them when I can.
Remember, peroxide is also used to fuel rockets, so be careful with them under pressure. If they can send a capsule to the moon, they can certainly send a cleaner to the hospital.
Re: With the temps rising be mindful
Have you guys ever used the pump up sprayers from Lowes made by Roundup, the weed killer? They have good seals in them that will withstand VOCs and they seem to hold up fairly well for $19.95.
