S.O.S. S.O.S.
My new favorite spotter is SOS (Soils N Oils Solvent) mixed 3-1. The extra solvent in there kicks a$$! I have used it on dried paint, Sharpie, mascara, makeup, labels, stains of unknown origins, adhesives and even spray foam insulation residue. The spray foam says on the can, once hardened it must be mechanically removed. It took scrubbing with a brush but removed all traces of it. I am really amazed at how well this performs.

Cool new name. Didn't realize it worked so well on everything else. Been saving mine for grease work.

To clarify... You use 1 part SOS to 3 parts water?

Re: S.O.S. S.O.S.
I had been saving mine too. I had tried everything to get rid of the spray foam residue on my kitchen floor and nothing would touch it. My wife asked if I had anything that would clean it. I said that according to the manufacturer it has to be mechanically removed once it's dried. She asked if I had tried everything. I said the only thing I haven't tried is SOS. So I mixed up a batch and applied it to the residue and it got softer. I scrubbed and reapplied until it was gone. I was super impressed because this stuff was supposed to be permanent at this point. Since then I have been trying it on everything I come across to see what it will do and so far haven't found anything that it can't clean. I'm sure there are things that it won't, I just haven't come across them yet.
To clarify... yes 1 part SOS to 3 parts water.

It smells just like S/O but more concentrated if that makes any sense. I'm sensitive to odors, fragrances and chemical smells and it doesn't bother me at all. It is definitely not harsh smelling.

I use hood cleaner on tile and grout. Some jobs I did not even pre scub. Dwell time important. Came out great. Tried this as a booster on carpet when I ran short of reg cleaner and kicked but. I think I used 1-2 ounces per gallon. What ever label said.

Gerry,
I am interested to hear more about SOS on tile and grout. Do you use it at 2 ounces a gallon on tile too? No other chems in the jug with tile?
How long are you dwelling it on tile?
Would you also use this on linoleum and vinyl?

Re: S.O.S. S.O.S.
I could not find original gallon with label on it. But using 1 - 2 ounces per hot gallon with no other chemicals in a pump up sprayer. If nasty may need extra oz. I am still trying to figure out. Have done 5 tile and grout jobs. 1 pretty bad and rest not so. I have been getting pretty wet and letting dwell about 15 min. If bad, mist again and let dwell some more. I got this from Joe specifically for t & g on his recommendation. I would think this would be great on linoleum and vinyl. I will try that. Hope this helps.

You got PH test paper, Eric?
If so, can you test it and let us know what the PH is at full strength and RTU??

I don't have PH test strips. I'll try to find some and test for you.

Okay, the PH is 9.7 at full strength and around 8.5 mixed 2-6 oz per gallon at dilution. I would guess at 3-1 it would be a little over 9.

A little testimonial for SOS....
Yesterday my wife was painting some trim on an outbuilding of a place we are buying. Some stinging nettles got her knee, causing her to itch it with paint on her hands.
She got Gloss white Rustoleum paint on black jeans. It was dry by the time we got back home and she was upset that it stained a pair of work pants. So, I break out my jug of SOS and a terry towel. Using just a cap full and rubbing it out with the terry towel, the paint vanished. I would not use it straight again, but instead dilute it to 3:1 like was mentioned. At full strength, it was pulling some of the black dye from her jeans.
Worked like a charm.
