Mohawk "License to Spill" Event

Mohawk "License to Spill" Event
Just did a Mohawk's "License to Spill" Event with one of my local carpet stores.
Had an absolute blast, but boy am I a bit tired!
We unfortunately did not get pictures when we got super busy and this white smart strand rug was plastered with ground in Mustard, Ketchup, pure food coloring dye....if there would have been a kitchen sink there....It would have been on the carpet.
It was a great opportunity to show the clients the stain resistance to smart strand, impress people with cleaning knowledge, make connections with your locals, had great conversations with the Mohawk rep....all in all....a WIN-WIN!
It was great to be able to educate the people with how to safely remove stains, spills and problems they encounter at their homes with their NON Smart Strand Carpets.
We did some local Newspaper for a couple of weeks, did some radio spots, even some live radio spots, served free hot dogs and burgers (which the Mohawk Rep paid for). It was a minimal investment for the carpet store and myself.
I do have to say, I am tired though after that day of being up and down removing stains....and if you ever consider doing one of these, get ahold of me so I can share a few more QUICK stain removal techniques that can only be done to the smart strand. (I could be a bit sore from the large commercial carpet, Tile and Grout job I had right after this too )
The red in the pics is Iron Ore which is very common around here. Stains a lot of things, but even if not a Smart Strand, we can get that out of other materials.
I booked about 5 jobs the day of the show and yesterday (Saturday) 5 more jobs came in from the event.

Looks like fun.
I'd still like to know how the SS fiber stands up to the test of time, or if it has the same bad characteristics as Poly?

Re: Mohawk "License to Spill" Event
I have heard some cleaners not happy cleaning it....I have had no problems.
I also installed it in my home 3 years ago so I could see for myself. I had removed Red Cherry wood "Wood" stain from one and thought I should take another look at it. I also shot some pictures of my going on 3 years old smart strand to show we are not seeing some of the same problems being described. Here are those pics and post:
Well....couldn't resist showing some pics of our Mohawk Smart Strand....so here are some pics (sorry about all the lighting issues, but hey nice morning that day)
Pics before vacuuming, pics after vacuum, pics after using a grandi groomer rake...pics moving the couches to show no problem wear in front of couch or in our bedroom (Overlooking the lake ) and we do walk in bare feet most of the time. Also, trying to show our heavy path areas for you which we are not having issues at this time for wear or discoloration.
Carpet is a Mohawk Smart Strand 57 ounce (Blondie is the color) and on a 10 pound pad. This is an older home added on to a few times, so the hump in the middle of a couple pics is unfortunately from the floor and due to season changes for the foundation.
Carpet is going on 3 years old and we have Grandkids, our dogs, cat, Grand Dogs, "Careless family members"....we do put it to the test. And we do clean our carpets once a year. The last time these carpets were cleaned was just before Christmas 2013 (this past year). These pics taken in July I believe for someone who had questions about the Smart Strand.
And Now most importantly...the view out our Master Bedroom and one of 2 living rooms. Bought this place almost to the date today when I was 22 years of age

Re: Mohawk "License to Spill" Event
Awesome views Mark! I wish I had Smart Strand in our house. I got a couple samples from a local retailer and have yet been unable to stain them. Every stain has come out with just water no less. I had to dig up an old piece of poly for stain removal testing. I guess my old poly is helping my craft at this point.

Re: Mohawk "License to Spill" Event
Great looking event...there should be more things like that being done to educate the customers.
As for the SS, I have mixed feelings about it so far. Very stain resistant (is that a good thing for people who make money removing stains?), but difficult to vacuum (even bogs down a crb going forward) and tends to leave very obvious tool marks that can be tough to correct (I had a lipped butler stair tool leave permanent marks on one home).
It might be the best stuff on the market right now, but I question if it will remain there for very long. Nothing wrong with just a nice quality grade nylon and I love the homes with the 30 year old wool carpets, but they are becoming very rare around here.
Anyway, the point of this thread is the event, Mark, nice job representing the industry and showing people what a professional cleaner looks like...might steer them away from the bottom-feeders.
