What kind of belts are you using?
It seems that mine are not lasting that long, Their lasting about 200 hours is that normal?
Thanks

Re: Truckmount Belts
I've got 900 hours on the belts on my Judson and they still look great. Perhaps it is an alignment or adjustment issue. What kind of wear or damage are you getting on the belts?

Re: Truckmount Belts
My 2007 hydamaster 4.8 cds currently has 3200 hours and belts still look good . 2008 pro1200 have 2500 hours and still look great. All original belts
Re: Truckmount Belts
My belts are changed yearly, but they still look like new. There is something wrong if your belts are wearing out that fast.
What machine is it and what do the belts look like...frays, glazed, cracked, what?

Re: Truckmount Belts
I agree, you have a problem if it's eating belts in 200 hrs.
My guess also, is a serious misalignment. I would think as fast as it's tearing the belt up the misalignment would be real obvious just by eye balling it, no need for a straight edge I bet to see it.
I also get several thousand hrs out of belt, and replace when they start drying out and cracking.
I only use HD Commercial belts I buy from Napa.
There's also a new type of belt called a Link V Belt, which you can put on in minuets out on a job if needed. No need to do any disassemblely to install it.
The disadvantage is the cost, so you wouldn't want to use this type until you get your problem fixed.
Get them from Grainger, Ebay, and even Harbor Freight has one..............

Re: Truckmount Belts
Sounds like a temperature issue.
Try a higher quality belt and try to reduce the heat exposure (small fan, shielding, re-routing exhaust, or just keep all the doors open).

Re: Truckmount Belts
Power twist v belt. Best there is.
Last longer then your Truckmount and easy to instal.
Plus you can add or remove links.
I was turned on to it years ago. Mine still going since 2004

l agree. More than likely a heat issue.milspec6 wrote:Sounds like a temperature issue.

Another carpet cleaner l know had this same problem. They checked the alignment a heap of times and keep stuffing around with no success.
In the end the put a heat shield in where the exhaust pipe was near the belt and all fixed. Never had a problem again.
Re: Truckmount Belts
I agree about the quality of belt. Are you using a belt that the # starts with AP or AX because the AX has teeth on it but they are for cooling not friction and if the belts are breaking then tell your dealer you want gates green strip belts. I have customer with prochem peaks having belts breaking they use the GS belt because they give more under torque when operating. Just a thought.

Davey, Brandon ( cannon ) is in inland empire / san bernardino area.
Brandon, get "Bando" belts, check their website out to find their local dealer in your area.

Thanks! It's like profile location is top secret here!?! Wonder what their all hiding from!?dp1 wrote:Davey, Brandon ( cannon ) is in inland empire / san bernardino area.
I think it would be easier to help others if they filled out the location info, at least you would know who's near you and would know if close enough to help them.
I'm sure not going to drive to KY to help fix a belt, but maybe if within 60 miles of me.
BUT we need to know where YOU ARE!!!

Re: Truckmount Belts
Cannon, had the same issue with my Powerclean unit. Belts were breaking every 150hrs. They would tell me it was the the alignment that was out. It was not. Alignment was right on. After going thru 8 pairs of belts they sent their head mechanic out to check out the machine. He spent a whole day going over the machine. He found nothing wrong. I had told them from the beginning it was a heat issue and it had the wrong pulley and belt size. It came with a 4"-4 channel pulley system with 4 "A" belts. The inner belts were breaking due to the fact they were close the exhaust manifold and they weren't getting enough belt-to-pulley contact due to the size so they were slipping (despite the fact they had the right tension on them) causing them to overheat, dry-out and crack. Convinced them to modify the pulley system to 7"-2 channel pulley and belt size to "B".
Result:The belts have now lasted over 3yrs. with over 1800hrs. and still going strong. More belt contact with the bigger pulleys and the bigger belts, as well as leaving the doors open to disperse the heat out of the van and away from the belts has made the difference.

Re: Truckmount Belts
Yea I go to his shop at least once a week, but my step dad is my TM mechanic, the belt I have been using were wrong, that's what happens when you try to do stuff your self and have no idea what I am doing, but how else am I going to learn, I plan on moving to Atlanta Ga. and he won't be around, hopefully I will have a new TM buy then and won't have to worry about repairs for a few yearsJoe EcoPro wrote:Brandon, who is your tm mechanic? Re: Truckmount Belts
That sounds like a plan, If I don't sell the TM I have now I will strip it down and figure out ways I can make it better, mark d. wrote:Cannon, had the same issue with my Powerclean unit. Re: Truckmount Belts
Moving to Atlanta ? At least you will further inland and the humidity shouldn't be as bad as it is along the coast. I believe Dwayne Oxley lives somewhere around that area and can help out with problems you might have.
