Re: Cool scrubbers and tools
They all were reading this board a year ago.....it is just a copy of the Hot Rod tool approach. In fact, the weed eater was probably based off of my posting.
I don't like any of the ones in the video....I wouldn't even consider them.

Re: Cool scrubbers and tools
Looks like a bunch of cheaply made plastic useless crap.
Seriously though, there's 2 important things most or all of those are missing, that's needed for effective scrubbing............weight and torque. You could make up for some of the lack of weight to dig-in by applying some pressure, but I'd bet most if not all of them would bog down and fall on their face.

Before you joined, we had a loaner program involving a scrubber that used an auto grinder on an aluminum handle. It was pretty cool and had some strong supporters on this board. In the early stages of the trial, I tossed out the idea of modifying a toro electric weed eater instead so that you could go portable. I am guessing that this video guy ran with that idea or else mental defectives just think alike.
The hot rod had the weight to get the job done while the weed eater and other lightweight tools do not. The amazing part is that there will be some buyers out there.
Re: Cool scrubbers and tools
So it looks to me that the HOT ROD has sparked a bunch of interest and shown the value of the tool.
The Hot Rod will out perform all of them, except the weed eater one as it has some torque behind it but the speed is flat out to fast, but it is also a pretty good idea.
Way to go HOT ROD you have sparked a interest in a market that everyone said was not needed, Kinda good for you though because it will bring more publicity to the Hot Rod.....soon I am sure a shoot out will be needed

Re: Cool scrubbers and tools
Seems to me that the Motor scrubber depicted in one of those videos can do a lot that other tools can't Cordless, light weight, extendable handle ( 13")- stop thinking just carpet cleaning, If you clean tile walls in commercial buildings- and my friend just did a $5,000 job doing just this, this would be a great tool. Is the hot rod cordless? Is it light weight? Can you lift it comfortably over your head. There's money to be made out there if you think outside of the proverbial carpet cleaning box. Less and less carpet is being installed everyday- you better learn to adapt and modify your service menu or you will find yourself owner of a diminishing market. Less negativity is needed and more positivity on this forum.
Re: Cool scrubbers and tools
Carpet is on the decline in some areas, but that means there are more tile, wood, and stone floors to clean.....all of which net bigger tickets anyway and use much of the same tools.
I don't mean to sound negative....a skeptic, yes, but not negative. I just have a garage loft full of equipment that turned out to be duds that I embraced too quickly.
I do think there is merit to a telescoping pole tool for windows and walls, but I don't see myself chasing that market.
The Hot Rod scrubber did prove itself a contender and has found a home in many vans, but his success can't be easily duplicated. I love seeing new ideas in gear (that Sky-vac system and ozone water come to mind) but I have become a tough sell lately...probably due to shallow pockets.
Keep the discoveries coming...I'll try to keep an open mind.
