Re: Been awhile.
Sounds like I need to charge more for stairs, and I thought $5-7 per step was enough.
Good info guys, thanks.
AC, at lets say $7 a window, for jobs to ave. $300-450, that's like 43-64 windows? Does the average house there really have that many, or maybe it's the added screen cleaning charges or something?
I don't live in a big house, but it does have a lot of windows for it's size, but that's still only a total of 18 windows.
I wish you guys were closer because my windows are filthy!! I'd happily pay $150 to have you bust a move on them.

Re: Been awhile.
ya if you consider a 2 story house, theres a lot of glass.
Some interior glass like office doors, several panes in every bed room etc
450 would be a job that has really dirty windows and sills so it needs $8/pane
theres city codes for how many windows a home can have, so some areas might have less on average

Ok I got yea.
But what about removing and replacing screens, is that included? Do you clean those also?

Wondering if there can be good money in it?
For me, I am 4 bucks a window, in or out. In other words, 8 bucks a normal size window. I charge more for bigger windows, odd shapes, and French windows.
That doesn't seem like much, but I really don't know.
And on average how long does it take you to clean that window on both sides?......and $8 includes washing the screen too?
For the 8 bucks, I'll brush screens, not wash them. Here, it's a waste to wash them. Brushing them gets them just as clean as washing.
In my area, less than half the jobs even have enough screens to worry about. I service the high end of the income spectrum. Those people all have A/C and they don't open windows.
My average home is 80-90% average size windows, with the glass facing the lake, over sized and odd shaped. Those oversize and odd windows are about double, and sometime triple the 8 dollar cost.
I like the glass decks too. One place has a lower and upper deck, all surrounded with 1/2 inch thick glass. That alone is 150 bucks of their bill.
This place has me clean 3-4 times a year, at 500 bucks a pop, and 3.75 hours to do it. I can't make that much an hour cleaning carpet here. I make as much as electricians and HVAC companies.

Re: Been awhile.
Window cleaning isn't for everyone.
But for a company that want to fill gaps, window cleaning is a great service to get into.
Good clients want repeat cleans. It isn't hard to sell them into 3 cleans a year. Even those more frugal, will do two cleans a year.
My market told me to either keep hobbling along doing carpets, or get into something people want that they are willing to pay for (as in pay the kind of rates I want to make).
If you don't have much window cleaning competition, it worth looking into.
