Cellphone Help Empty Cellphone Help

Post by kleanerdude Mon Dec 21, 2015 9:37 pm

I am calling to generate leads for this guy. He gets me a Verizon LG Revere 3.
I have not a clue what he's paying for this phone or service. The phone itself
looks ok but when i try calling numbers it doesn't ring it stutters and it either
doesn't connect a lot or when it does it's cutting out a lot, so the client is there,
then not, then they're there, then they're not....and it's driving me crazy.

I mean is this any way to run a business. I'm trying to generate leads here, ya know.

I sent the guy [my employer] an email and he says well, money don't grow on
trees and I tell him if you want any money or trees, you need to put some better
money on a better phone.

But, nice guy, he just doesn't know how to pick out a decent phone that isn't
going to cut out, stutter or drop the call 90% of the time.

I want to pick out a good, solid phone that isn't going to cost the ol' arm and leg,
can folks help me out here? I know it isn't this Verizon LG Revere 3, it's a very
very very very very very bad phone! Plain SUCKS!!

I know the owner [my employer] isn't going to spend $500 for a phone because
I am seeing many like that, for even up to $1000 and $1500. Not yet, wait'll
we make our first million, at least.

A good solid clear communication device for no more than $200 would work.
I could probably convince him as I am good at generating leads for him and
I can feel he wants me to get the leads, so.....a little advice on a phone that
doesn't sound like i'm talking in a tincan with the string on it, ya know. And
getting cut off, all the time - i am so tired of all that. Makes ya wanna scream!

Is it actually cutting off the call? It sounds to me like the speaker is cutting out instead, but the caller is still there. It might be that the phone is fine, just has a bad speaker which should fall under a warranty repair / replacement.

Since you are making the calls, why use a cell phone at all? A landline allows a much better conversation since there are no delays which cause each person to trip over each others conversation. If the "mobile" part isn't needed, that is what I would do.

Cellphone Help Empty Cellphone Help

Post by kleanerdude Mon Dec 21, 2015 10:25 pm

I am using a landline but the cellphone has the company number because i don't want to use my landline [home phone] for making calls back or getting CBs on my home phone, thus a cellphone with their co. number. I am hearing Samsung might be good buy from craigslist and used - around $200.
It's not my cellphone - it's my employers - he isn't happy about having to get me another phone but i told him if you want good customer service - you cannot have a phone cutting off and on and sounding like you're in a tunnel.

I understand wanting to keep your personal line separate from the business calls, but it would probably be cheaper for your employer to pay you for a second line installation at the house.

Having the company number doesn't seem to be of any real value to me as the calls go to you anyway. I would look to make this the easiest that I could for reliability and a second line would be cheaper than a replacement cell unless there is long distance involved.

If this owner doesn't want to pay a little to get his phone service working effectively, then he has bigger issues. Seriously, if I am paying for a phone service to manage my sales, I sure as hell would want to make sure that the phone works.

Sounds more like bad service to me.

If I were him, I would want you calling from a land line and using your home computer/laptop for communications.

If your issue is service, then a new phone won't help anyway.

There are many reasons why you have the problems, network issues in your area / home and equipment issue are the top 2, you need to check which one you're having, did you go outside your area to see if you have better connection ? If you haven't done that you should try that first, if you still have the same issue, you should go get a replacement phone, get the receipt from the owner and go to the store and get it exchanged, it should be free to do that.
After that you should still go out of your area to test the phone, if it still doesn't work well then you should tell the owner to get you another phone, Samsung is great, I've been using Samsung for many years now and never had any issues with their phones, their tablets are different story.

Cellphone Help Empty Re: Cellphone Help

Post by Devon07 Tue Dec 22, 2015 6:11 pm

What bothers me is the way the expensive phones break! Ive had two Iphones and both broke....ditched them and now have a cheap phone...no complaints with the cheapy except the pics you guys see that suck. It blows my mind how they can sell a $600 phone and one drop its shattered.....my $99 phone has been dropped, thrown, wet, etc and works like a charm....so, like the guys are saying.....bad service not necessarily the phone. If he has the phone added to his current service he gets the crappy service as well I bet.

Check out ebay, I've gotten a couple of phones there no problems with them. I've used the IPhone 4S for 2 yrs now have a Samsung Galaxy Note 4. But the first thing that I did is stop and think, this is an expensive tool so I bought a otterbox to protect it. They both look like brand new  (The phone that is ) not the case lol.
But look at the signal strength when calling that may give you a clue.
