jets up higher with higher pressure
anyone try this? Ive been experimenting with my jets up higher on the sheer kit while running higher psi.
the heat is incredible, at least 15 maybe 20 degrees hotter. It never occurred to me that higher psi would get the heat from the LG out faster but it really does.
always thought it was just jet flow that would help move the hotter water to the wand jets faster. Raised up the jets a bit and ran 600psi on carpet, wand tube was so hot it burnt me where my hand wasnt on the rubber handle guard. Cleaning power was amazing and the carpet was dry fast.
anyone else?

Re: jets up higher with higher pressure
I don't use sheer kits but I have always run high psi. I've never cleaned carpet with 300 or 400 psi when using wands. Only when using rotaries do I run lower pressure.

Re: jets up higher with higher pressure
I clean at 500 psi 99% of the time and with low shear I actually feel the heat on the tube but not to the point of burning my hand, with higher jet at 600 psi wouldn't that causes too much steam to the point you can't see the carpets / spots ??

So if you're increasing the PSI your reducing flow and creating more steam? I think you reach a point of diminishing returns if you're cleaning more steam than water. Not the case in ACs case but you may want to experiment with higher flow along with higher PSI

That will cause a drop in cleaning temperatures and it will over wet the carpet, however if anyone wants to try that, this is a perfect time to do it, hot summer day.

Re: jets up higher with higher pressure
ya before we always ran 7.5 flow and around 400psi
now 10 flow one wand and 12 flow other wand 500psi
then just raised jets up higher and ran 600psi, cleaned the carpet really well and first room as usual was about dry by the time job was almost over.
you definitely see more steam and notice more water moving, the temperature actually goes way up the line is hotter, wand handle is way hotter.
I know psi can affect flow rates but I am wondering if maybe somehow at 400psi we werent actually getting the full 10 flow out of the jets? maybe somehow the little giant is moving more water and keeping it hotter burning more fuel? rather than water sitting in lines longer and cooling down before reaching the wand?
idk its a major heat increase though, I would guess almost 20degrees hotter.. I was flushing a soapy spot really slow when the wand handle burnt me

Re: jets up higher with higher pressure
It's almost like you are spraying your lawn with a nozzle, if you turn the handle halfway, it doesn't spray as good as if you open the spigot all the way. You won't get a full flow with 400 psi, that's why I do 500 psi, even if the carpets are not soiled, just use less pre spray and drying time will be a lot quicker.

Re: jets up higher with higher pressure
Sometimes the low shear angle can cause the jets to be partially covered by carpet resulting in flow restrictions.....and clogged jets.
My guess is that by raising the jets, you eliminated the obstruction and gained better flow and that equals more heat and cleaning impact.
I've seen that on thicker shag carpets a few times.

Re: jets up higher with higher pressure
this is on all carpet types and jets with our wands are always up off the pile.
There is a chart for flow rates/ psi and the flow rates change depending on psi.. I think actually the jets we all use have flow rates based on a much lower psi like 80 or something cant remember.
I think at 500 or 600 psi the flow rate, what ever it was before at 400, has gone up quite a bit.
and yes this allows for much less pre spraying which means better dry times.

Re: jets up higher with higher pressure
We are starting to sound like the psi washing industry.....that could be a good thing actually.
