Has the election??
Has the election slowed down your November? November is normally a good month for me.Last week was kind of slow and not much scheduled next week. Whats going on?
Re: Has the election??
For once, I get to claim the opposite. I am busier right now than I have been the last 4 months. Being more visible on the internet probably had a lot to do with it, but it is still nice.
I am booked nearly all week, but I suspect that the election will shut everything down after that and might even kill the holiday cleanings this year.

Re: Has the election??
November I don't get calls. I did get a call this week, but she was just a price shopper.
Rob, you should track your traffic.

Re: Has the election??
So many people so that the election affects their work but for me its never happened. Even if I see a drop in jobs I normally make up for it by expanding my business to get back to where is was before. Cool thing about doing this is that when my business picks back after what ever slowed it down is over I then have a more expanded and bigger business
Re: Has the election??
Same here Mo, it slows down here too for me, usually when this happens though, we get slammed the last week before thanksgiving, so I'm a little worried that might happen

Re: Has the election??
I took a look at the last election in 2012 and it was the slowest November pf the four years so I guess I answered my question.
Im going to the Keys in Jan no matter what happens

What do you do to expand your business brownie?

Good for you Rob. Is it mostly residential?
I still think your nest slow down you should do another postcard distribution to the same neighborhoods you did the last time

I get the feeling residential window cleaning really dies in the winter compared to carpet cleaning
Re: Has the election??
Yeah Mo, it's easy for you to say, lol and it's not $ 10 / click, it's $ 15 on average !!! That means some clicks can be close to $ 20 !!! I would have to be very desperate to go for that, but then again I probably will be very desperate in March, lol.

Re: Has the election??
Right now Mo, it is really balanced between residential and commercial. Even in size of job, they are comparable. Cleared $2200 for the last 2 evenings commercial and then I have a residential on Wed. that includes tile, counter-tops, carpet, and 4 pieces of furniture......should be a large ticket as well.
Then there are some smaller residential slotted for this weekend. So far, it looks to be a pretty good week.

Re: Has the election??
There were a lot of angry people around here last night watching the election, but the acceptance speech actually went over pretty good. It might have been the first time he sounded "normal".
Time will tell, but I did get a call from the local bank for an estimate, so he didn't kill business yet.

Re: Has the election??
I hope not remember this is Arizona so Im expecting parties, celebrations and wine spills
Re: Has the election??
You might have to send wine out as a holiday gift....just include your card in the box.
Re: Has the election??
I mentioned that bank estimate.....what an idiot.
I talked to the custodial manager today and asked how much carpet is there in the bank? He says that he has been there since it was built 20 years ago and that the square footage with the addition was 67,000 with 36 stairs.
I asked if he meant 6,700 sqft? He replied no, and repeated the 67,000 sqft. I chuckled and suggested that unless the bank is a few city blocks, it must be 6,700 sqft.
He asked me to come down Friday to measure and he will prove it. I will need to bring some hot sauce for his crow dinner, but I will be nice about it.
It is an interesting job really. The custodian has been encap cleaning the place for the last 3 years after watching a previous cleaner do it. The problem now is that the soil load is too great and his encap cleaning isn't getting it done any longer.
It certainly needs HWE at this point, but that means there needs to be a door left open after-hours. The manager is not a fan of that idea, but I am not going to use a portable on this job, so he will have to accept it or call someone else.
It looks to be a good situation though as this bank pretty much dominates the city and is probably holding paper on 80% of the commercial buildings in the area.
Hopefully, we can come to a compromise Friday so that I can clean it before the nice weather is gone. Right now, it has been steadily in the mid-60's which is amazing for this time of year.

Re: Has the election??
Is it a one story building? Are they going to have a security guy on sute while you're cleaning
Re: Has the election??
It is 2 stories and we are working that part out. In the past, I have chained the doors and posted a security guard inside the door. I do have a close friend that is a Deputy Sheriff in that area so I might be able to get some help with that.
Re: Has the election??
I don't know who is dumber.....me or the Bank manager.
We scheduled the estimate for today......Veteran's day. Locked building when I arrived and stupid look on my face. I called him at home and he said that he forgot as well.
I am just a stupid carpet cleaner, he is responsible for a lot of people's money. I don't think I should bank there.

Re: Has the election??
True, residential is always open.
Tonight is supposed to be down to the mid 20's and the smell of chimney smoke is in the air. Residential cleanings end shortly after in this area, but I just booked 2 more large commercial towards the end of the month.
Winter is when commercial is king and things are looking good for me in that arena.

Unf@&$!?believable, I got 2 jobs today, 2 freaking jobs !! and this is the last week before Thanksgiving week ! Yes I checked the ads are popping up as they should, I know election year is usually slower but not this slow, this is like going back to 2008, when we first started. Very frustrating !

Re: Has the election??
october was slow, then november hit and we booked out fast for anything before thanksgiving
I got a bunch of needed stuff done in october but my list is still long, I like busy but I also really need some down time to do some overhaul cleanings/maintenance on the trucks.
