Re: cell phones
Verizon here as well.....same boat, okay service, but likely paying a premium. I was a Sprint customer for awhile years back, but they were terrible for this area. I had to walk about a block from my house to find a signal.
I think you just have to go with what works for your area. Verizon gets me a good signal where I need it to, so I am staying with them for now.

Re: cell phones
ATT and Verizon both are top service providers in my area. Both equally have problems, being that they are not awesome.
If data is important, these are the two options here. If it is ONLY calls and texts you worry about here, then straight talk, att gophone, or T-Mobile are ok here. But you will not get all 4G service with them here.
I prefer ATT here because I can change my phones at will. Just take my SIM from my phone, put it in another, and I am good to go. With Verizon, I have to go in and they have to program it, IF the phone is ok to do that with. It's cheaper for me to buy a phone myself, rather than get one through ATT.
Both Verizon and ATT cost the same here for comparable plans. I pay 150 a month for 2 phones, unlimited text and calls, 20 gigs of data. I own my phones, not rent them or have "next" plans.

Re: cell phones
I'm with Verizon, service in my home and surrounding areas are okay, T-Mobile was better for this area and LA area, the reason I switched was when I started going up hills, I would get no signals with T-mobile, especially Beverly hills, forget that, I figured if I were working in those areas for 2 hours, that can mean 4 - 5 calls that I potentially missed and could mean 2 jobs lost, which can equal to $ 300 - $ 1,000.
I pay Verizon $ 65 / month for unlimited calls and texts and 2 gb of data, wife and kids and my mom is still with Tmobile and they are paying $ 200 / month including monthly payments for 4 new phones purchased 6 months ago, so no contract but the phones are not free, Tmobile give each line 6 GB for each line and wife's line gets unlimited Internet as well as 25 GB of tethering, when we travel we would hitch all tablets to her phone for internet.

Re: cell phones
Wow, $65 is pretty cheap. I pay about $100 in this area for similar data limits. I try not to shop around much on these things as they are a business expense and you can't have it lose service and likely lose jobs in the process.
Re: cell phones
Try to ask them for the plan I'm in Bob, not sure what it's called but it's $ 65 plus some change, that's out the door, when I signed up I used to pay around $ 75 and then the following year my FB account went ballistic and kept running in the background and used up 2 GB of data in a day and a half, I called and they switched me to this current plan, not only cheaper but if I go over my data, it's only $ 10 / Gb, which I think is not bad at all ?

Re: cell phones
I will check into that Dp, thanks for the tip.
When I was still working at the plant as an investigator, they gave me a 50% discount and unlimited data since I had to be available 24/7 and accept some document downloads. My bill then was never more than $35.
Between my 70% increase in medical premiums and near tripling of my cell phone monthly, my budget changed a lot since leaving that job.

Re: cell phones
Just fyi if you still have a friend that was working at your old office and can spare his / her email address, you can still get that 50% discount, the only thing Verizon need is valid email address from companies that they work with.
