Psi headache
Here it is, everyone's favorite question and often one full of surprises. What pressures are you cleaning at on various surfaces?
Residential Carpet: 300 - 450 psi
Commercial: 500 psi
Upholstery: 100 psi
Tile and Grout: 700 - 800 psi unless just rinsing then it is at 450 psi
Anybody vastly different....are there better "sweet spots"?

Re: Psi headache
Not at all. I've cleaned alot of tile and haven't had any issues. I have some commercial accounts that I clean on a regular basis at 1500-1600 psi. Theres a car dealerships service center that I clean at 2000 psi every 6 months for a couple years with no problems. But obviously if you see cracked grout you dont want to clean that area slowly, I'll make several quick passes over it. Just inspect the job good first and use your own judgement.
Re: Psi headache
Wow! That is a lot of pressure, I can't push my machine over 1,000 so I am forced into more agitation. Maybe that is also why a spinner as a stand-alone hasn't impressed me as much. Just need a machine with stronger pump.

Re: Psi headache
450 on everything. Total 15 flow on my wand. I don't do tile.

Re: Psi headache
Wow, so much variation, I tend to follow iicrc guidelines in this,
Carpet = 450 - 500 psi, 6 flow atw
Uph = 350 psi, sapphire tool
Tile & grout = 700 - 800 psi, heat up to 230 - 250 deg.

Upholstery 200-300
Carpet depends on which wand im using 300-500
Finding im needing more psi on the wand from Joe with the HSK than the usual straight down jet like my PC Quad
Do you guys find the same thing?

Re: Psi headache
I run HSK's on all of my wands with med-high flow jets, but I haven't noticed the need for higher pressures. If anything, I use less pressure. Might want to adjust the angle of your spraybar...something doesn't sound right.bcs wrote:Upholstery 200-300

Re: Psi headache
Robert is right, you might want to check your inline filter on your wand, that might be clogged with something, if that's clear, your jet size may be different, if your "joe" wand has smaller jet size, that explains why you need higher pressure to achieve similar pressure as the other wand with a larger jet size, hope that helps.bcs wrote:Upholstery 200-300

Re: Psi headache
Something to think about also if you are using brass jets its recommended you change them at least every 6 mos. stainless yearly.
That at industry standard 300-400 psi higher psi may be more often.
Worn jets causes more water flow lower heat possible over wetting and excess psi drop when wand is triggered
