I rented a Cimex machine for a while before buying my own. The new one came with a lighter weight cord than the rental. I also noticed it would bog down on occasion and also needed to be "started up and dropped in". The cord did the twist over time so I replaced it with #12. No more bogging or starting then dropping in. If you're having the same problem this is the solution. If you need to add an extension make sure it's a heavy duty one too.
