Carpet cleaning chemicals At Home depot?
Yes, never used this stuff? Anyone?
http://www.homedepot.com/p/ZEP-1-gal-Carpet-Extractor-Shampoo-Case-of-4-ZUCEC128/202751098?MERCH=REC-_-PIPHorizontal1-2-_-NA-_-202751098-_-N
You can get Krud Kutter there for about a buck less than Lowes sells it for. Mix it 1 to 1 w/ your Leslie pool Aqua Silk (27% HP) to remove urine stains on SYNTHETIC carpets. Great pre spray booster, takes out winter salt stains really well! I believe it's a salt based product, salt takes out salt.
As discussed before, Cat pump Oil is available at the pressure wash area.
Been using this for years, many different scents, same ingredients as most quats at 1/3 the price. Check it out.

The only thing I use is their fiber rinse.

It says it's thickened to hold to vertical walls, might not work for carpet.
Re: Carpet cleaning chemicals At Home depot?
How exactly are you using this odoban stuff? adding to rinse? adding to pre spray? post praying , pre soaking and water clawing?

Re: Carpet cleaning chemicals At Home depot?
I've used the Odoban stuff as a tank deodorant, but never in the homes. It does have a nice smell, but I can't see using it in a customer's home.
Re: Carpet cleaning chemicals At Home depot?
Dilute it to recommended strength, spray it on your windshield. See how easy it comes off. That's what it does to carpet.
It doesn't mess with the polymer Joe has in his S/O/E but does it truly remove odors and sanitize? I've never tested it. I added it because of the lavender scent as a trial.

Re: Carpet cleaning chemicals At Home depot?
Only thing I use from HD is Folex on furniture varnish stains, whatever the surfactants are that are in it they work on furniture stains.
Saturate the stain heavily with it, leave it for at least an hr and go work on the rest of the house.
Lots of success doing this, tried it on a whim one day and was blown away. I think I bought it originally as a joke but happened to have it in my van.

A lot of carpet cleaners rip on Folex, but I've had pretty good success with it as an easy to get for dirt cheap spotter. It's not the greatest in the world but if anyone uses Joe's S/O/E it makes a pretty sweet booster to give it a little more oomph.

Re: Carpet cleaning chemicals At Home depot?
I have a customer that loves the Bona wood cleaner and polish from Home Depot. That 511 Impregnator is recommended by HD too
Re: Carpet cleaning chemicals At Home depot?
Its just really bad to use folex the way customers do, which is gallon jugs loaded in their bissell.
stuff is really harsh and hard on carpet, but its been around since the 50s or something and whatever is in it will break down tuff varnish

Re: Carpet cleaning chemicals At Home depot?
Thanks I'm going to give it a try. Does it have a scent?
Re: Carpet cleaning chemicals At Home depot?
OdoBan is the only sanitizer/disenfectant that I have seen that actually says it works on porous services- ie: carpet, upholstery. Milgo and all the other industry standards will not make the claim. My guess is that odoban is a big enough corp. that their lawyers are confident. The active ingredient I believe is the same as these other induststry pruducts:
Active Ingredients: Alkyl (C14 50%, C12 40%, C16 10%)
dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride . . . . . . . . . 0.30%
Other Ingredients . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 99.70%

It's supposed to have a "fresh" scent, but I can't smell it. No smell to me.MikeW wrote:Thanks I'm going to give it a try. Does it have a scent?

I don't mean any disrespect and I believe that anyone can clean as well with almost any cleaning products with the right amount of experiences, but just from the image point of view I don't think it'll look very professional to use HD cleaning products, don't you think ?

Re: Carpet cleaning chemicals At Home depot?
I agree with Dp...again. I don't think it is a good practice to use them in their homes, except for maybe the tile sealer (5.11) as most of the professional tile installers are using it around here.
It isn't much different than dragging a rug doctor into the home. You can make that work too if you know what you are doing, but it will not impress.

Re: Carpet cleaning chemicals At Home depot?
I will agree to some extent.
But!
Anyone use Fels? It is a really great spotter. MANY folks use it. AND it can be bought at Wal-mart............
I use wax, that can be bought at the big box stores. It isn't any better or worse than more expensive waxes. I've never had someone complain about it.
So I guess it's kinda up to the cleaner. I do agree though, that perception is important.

Very good point on that fels....I can't argue.
Re: Carpet cleaning chemicals At Home depot?
Professional is as professional does.... The only person who cares where you buy you supplies is the local distributor who is selling you 12% hp for $27.00 a gal. After 30 years in this business I have learned that you really only need 5 -6 key products to get the job done. If you can get them at Home Depot your smarter and richer for it. Is cat pump oil any different from your Dist. than from Home Depot?dp1 wrote:I don't mean any disrespect and I believe that anyone can clean as well with almost any cleaning products with the right amount of experiences, but just from the image point of view I don't think it'll look very professional to use HD cleaning products, don't you think ?
Re: Carpet cleaning chemicals At Home depot?
Really, is the customer going to know or really care what you use. Very few might care. They know you are the professional and trust you. Find what is safe and works best for you. We are in business and need to be smart. So cost is a factor. I personally do not use chemicals from HD, Lowes or wherever. Mostly from Joe. But, I would consider something for greasy, crappy rental, or a restraurant. Look, some of us buy from a pool supplier, buy Fels or whatever works. I base my purchases on does it work, is it fairly safe, and then probably cost.
Re: Carpet cleaning chemicals At Home depot?
Have you guys noticed HD rental center carries the drieaz fans the small one and the big one. They also had an extractor and fogger. Im so glad most of my customers are retired and have no desire to DIY

I believe every areas HD rental has different equipments, the last time I was at my HD there weren't any, however I don't think you'll make any money if you rent your equipments from HD though, the blue book rental cost for those fans are $ 15 - $ 20 each per day I believe, I doubt if HD is renting them out much lower than that.

I think HD is owned by Chemdry or some large cleaning company. Seen that somewhere about a year ago.
