107 degrees today !

I had to work by myself today, had 3 small jobs and had an emergency same day service ( a kid threw up all over the carpet ), my repeat customer, so I can't say no
I usually don't sweat a lot but by the 2nd job I was pretty drenched with sweat, customer didn't turn the AC on ( it was also my repeat customer ), I almost ask her to turn the damn AC on, lol. That was only around 10 am and it was already on the low 90 degrees, I despised summer already, now if only we get busier, I would despise it less, especially when I don't have to push that wand

We had a heat index of 105 yesterday and it was still 90 degrees at night...yuck.

I have started to run my airpath upright now when I clean and not just down for drying. The air movement has been a huge help without drying the prespray too fast.

Without it, I would be drenched.

Without AC, I don't know who would want their house cleaned, in that heat. Their house would be a literal sauna.

That's got to be a record in so cal for heat

It hit 100 yesterday but luckily it cools off a night, no ac at my place. Woke up to the smell of smoke this morning blowing from a fire 50 plus miles away

Not sure about record Mo, but damn, I would be freaking out if I live around the woods and smell smoke, I would've packed things up to get ready to leave.
I should've remembered about air movers, I know those things are huge help in this weather, I'll pull it off the truck if this heat doesn't go down soon.
Thankfully I don't have to push the wand today, I'm still sweating from going back and forth getting stuffs in and out of the house.
It was like a sauna James, I just tried to think positive, free sauna for the day, lol.

The air movers make all the difference. It is common for homes around here to be in the upper 80's when I clean because people turn off the A/C since the door has to be open and they don't want to waste money in their mind. I use a door seal, but they still turn things off.

I have to wear fast drying shorts and carry extra shirts on the truck. It can be draining at times.

Today is slightly cooler ( 101 - 102 degrees ) but we had 6 jobs and one of those jobs are 7 area rugs that the guy laid outside on his back yard, yes his back yard is huge ! And there was no tree, so full blast sun cooked us and the black polo shirt uniform didn't help either ( thanks to the genius who thinks black uniform looks really good ).
After that job I was trying to think if there is any other day in my cleaning career that I felt that miserable, and I couldn't think of one, today topped things and even though there are 2 of us, if the guy asked us to clean his sectional, I would definitely refused and asked him to schedule it another day.
I'm getting tired of the damn heat and summer already

I agree Mo, I can't get 6 jobs in 2 weeks let alone in a day right now. I only had 2 houses last week and nothing on the schedule for next week yet either. There are several special events at the Zoo coming up this month, so traditionally that means a lot of work, but things have not been traditional this year at all thus far.

But still....black polo shirts? Are they at least cotton?

Actually, I am thinking about switching to silk camp shirts in the future. I wear Tommy Bahama silk shirts when not working and it doesn't matter how hot it is out, I stay comfortable. It might be a little risky with the work that we do, but the comfort is sure there. Just not sure how well they embroider?

Lol, yes Bob they are 100% cotton, I actually asked everyone before I do the uniform, most of them prefer black polo shirts because they hide spots pretty good, since we tend to eat in the van on the way to next job.

And yes yesterday was indeed a good day, especially that area rugs job. But I wish the 6 jobs are steady in the week, unfortunately it's not this year

We are at a 106 heat index ourselves again today. The humidity just sucks the life right out of you. I was planning on servicing the trucks and canvassing the neighborhoods today, but looks like I am just staying inside and cleaning house instead.

Should see cooler temps this week and since there isn't anything on the schedule, I seem to have the time.

I'm curious what's the low temp in the morning there when it's over 100 degrees in the day time ? Here it's in the low 70s, which doesn't help cooling the house at all
I woke up at 4 am and opened the door, 10 minutes later the A/C kicked back on and we only set it at 77 degrees at night.

We don't get the sea support cooling at night, so it often just cools down to around 84 during these heat waves. It was 87 when I loaded up the van this morning at 7 am.

We were around 105 heat index again today as well.

Wow, 87 degrees at 7 am, damn, that must be miserable, lol.

It is miserable....and expensive. My thermostat is set at 77 as well and it hasn't stopped running in about a week. Being a 2-story home, it is always about 5 degrees warmer upstairs so my office and bedroom is about 82 degrees right now and it is after 1 am!!

Geez, I am starting to consider a vacation now with this heat wave.

It is almost midnight and it is still 83 degrees outside and 75% humidity! Just miserable outside.

Yuck.

It's been hot an humid here too. This sucks.

It rained hard all day today and I think it actually feels dryer standing in the rain that it did last night in the humidity

I cleaned a few sofas today and it was enough to dehydrate me. Rough stretch right now.

Since you cleaned some sofas, I just told Danny earlier today when I was cleaning, if I ever retire from cleaning, I will avoid having someone clean my couch in the summer, I don't think I want their sweats dripping all over my couch.

Very difficult not to, that is for certain. You just have to wear a hat with a good sweat band and pace yourself.

Besides, sweat is mostly salt and salt water cleans better anyway....just ask Zero-Rez.
