Re: everest efi
The belt to the altinator is showing signs of cracking and wear. So I got a new belt to put on. Start looking at the set up... WTH!
3 pulleys this belt hooks up to: alt, radiator fan, and 1 that has other belts going to cat pump. The pump has 2 belts and I need to go to a pulley inside of those. Looks like image to loosen the pump base its mounts on to loosen the 2 belts so I can put the new alt belt on. Then re-set the pump and belts( tighten).
Genius they are. Design so the inside belt is on the outside and...diy- simplicity. But noooooo.
Try to post a pic.

So the pic is sideways. Right is top of pic. See the 2 belts? And 3rd pulley by the 2 belts. That is the hard one to get to.

I'm pretty sure that's the exact same machine I have in one of my vans, if I'm not mistaken, you would have to take the radiator out to get to all of those belts, if you decide to do it yourself or have JD do it, make sure you change the timing belt too, even though they look good, just replace them, it will save you lots of $$ in the near future.
And I couldn't agree more with you, Prochem has the best cleaning machine in my opinion but they are definitely not user friendly, think of it this way, is Mercedes Benz or BMW user friendly ? Not really, but they can last a long time with minimal issues if you maintain them, and the maintenance ain't cheap either, that being said, that's why I don't own Mercedes Benz or BMW, lol.

I'm with you Matt
That belt is a pain. You've got to work it around the fan blade to get it on as well as taking the other 2 belts loose. Good rule of thumb is if you're replacing the inside belt. Replace all three. Other than the cost of the belts the time is the same.

The EFI unit has the Nissan engine. Nissan has a chain. But you can wiggle it around the fan blade and get it on.

I tought it might slip around the fan blade.
It was the 2 belts going to the pump that made me grummble.
Would a link belt be an option?

I have never used one. I have heard of using them for emergencies, but long-term I don't know how long it will last. I would replace them with normal belts. Look at how long those have lasted for.

Wait, so you don't have to take the radiator and fan out to replace those belts ? That's very good to know, thanks Ed.

No, you just have to take your time and not loose it. Then you have to replace it. Lol, can be a little bit aggravating to do.

I have link belts on other stuff. had one on my EZ TM. they are made of very heavy duty stuff; just cant remember what it is.
The belt is replaced!!! 2 hrs.
1. had to loosen the nuts on the cat pump base(pic later)
had to loosen the far side nuts just alittle to get more play in the big pulley on pump.
2. loosen the alt. tension
3.wiggle pump belts off
4.yes, go around the radiator fan
put belts on, tighten alt and anything else.
bingo, bango, done.
man they give you barely room to do anything! get hands in there, get belt in there.....

loosen nuts and put a big screw driven in to pry up the base the pump is on. this will lift the pulley to give slack in the belts.

One of the most important thing to do is protect every single hose that might have a rub point. Even the vibration from driving to the job can wear a hole.

Ask a trucker the lengths they go through to protect and tie down every single hose without exception.

I put some rubber hose over them, in the wearing area. You can see in the pic.
