Steamin Demon pricing
I got a call from a Church looking for an estimate and the conversation went towards the possibility of them buying a portable to the dining area where they host dinners monthly. I suggested the Steamin Demon that I have in storage and they were really interested to the point that they asked for a price.
This extractors are stupidly expensive for what they are new. Even used they seem way over-priced like a lot of things in this industry (every price a new Rx-20?) but it does work really well on commercial that wasn't heavily loaded with grease and had access to hot water. I paid $1200 for mine about 5 years ago and used it sporadically on apartments for a couple of years before moving on to a TM. I would like to sell it, but not really give it away either as it still comes in handy for an apartment in the dead of winter or flood work. I gave them a quote of $800 along with instruction and a case of pre-spray.
Not sure if that is a fair price, but it was what I came up with. I should hear back later today from them.
Speaking of that RX-20, I listed mine for sale local as well. I was stunned to see how much they go for new when I tried to decide on a price. I over-hauled mine a year ago with all new hoses, vac slots, and even a set of green glides and jets. Great tool, but I don't need it for what I clean.

Re: Steamin Demon pricing
I think your price is good on the Demon. I bet after a short period of time they either offer you to buy it back or try to sell it.
Cleaning carpet is not something anyone can just do. There is a lot of science behind it and more work then people realize.

Re: Steamin Demon pricing
Thanks for the support, I am actually expecting to see both happen. I will give it a full cleaning and they will buy the machine to maintain the carpet.
The Demon really simplifies the process a lot for people and I have seen many facilities maintenance types do a pretty decent job....as long as they have access to enough hot water and don't need to reach farther than 200 feet.

Re: Steamin Demon pricing
I never saw that happen with the Demon unless someone does something stupid like leaving the pump running with the vac turned off. It is pretty idiot proof of a tool.
The major flaws being that it can't do stairs, can't handle heat over 140 degrees, and just looks like something built in the garage.
