Ford vs Chevy vs Anything else
We had owned 1 ton Chevy in the past, the great thing is it drives a LOT smoother than Fords and the A/C is a lot colder than Fords, however after 6 months, one of the tranny's oil drain seal had fell apart and it started leaking oil, good thing my mechanic caught it, after that, we never purchased Chevy again, not saying they are all bad, considering the price we paid ( close to 30 k before taxes, we expect it to have no problem at least for the first year or two.
Fords have their own issues, suspensions needs to be lubed going into 3rd or 4th year, power windows making funny noises after roling down halfway but the noise stops if you roll it back up just a bit, anyone else having this issue ?
Anyone have the new Nissan cargo van ? Any reviews ?
Anyone have any reviews on any other cargo vans ?

Re: Ford vs Chevy vs Anything else
I have driven both Chevy and Ford in gas and diesel versions and they both have their quirks. Like you said, the Chevy's do ride nicer and turn sharper, but I find the Fords more reliable over-all.
Your window issue sounds like a regulator problem...probably just needs lubed. I like vans that are very basic with manual windows and locks to avoid issues, especially during the winters, but that is just me.
One of the best resources for these questions is a site called carsurvey.org. They are records compiled by owners on just about every vehicle and it is a weath of information. It saved me from buying a few lemons (Jaguar XJ6 comes to mind) over the years.

(Just checked reviews on this site for cargo vans...not a lot there right now. I expected a lot more, aways been a fan of the site)

Re: Ford vs Chevy vs Anything else
I've had my Ford for I think 4 years and it's been pretty solid. Knock on wood.
It does sound like I'm going to have to replace my starter pretty soon and I've had to tighten my sliding door handle a couple of times. I do need to switch out my tires to a bigger heavier load tire maybe even shocks.
I got a good deal on it. It was a Pac Bell van bought at auction for $1900.00

Thanks Robert for the website.
Mo, that's a great deal, how old was the van when you got it and how many miles ?
I really like the look of the mercedez cargo van but my concern is not being able to get in basements and such.
Mo, it was my fault, I never see my notifications, if I see it, I would've been able to open the thread and will see where the new thread locations, so no worries, I'm learning, but boy you are quick man, lol.

That's a great deal Mo !
Ryan, is yours the half a ton, 3/4 ton or 1 ton ? does that ever happened to your chevy ? The drain plug seal fall apart within the first or second year ?

I like those sprinters a lot, but they seem to rust out quickly and the Mercedes dealership warned me that parts can be difficult to get without a waiting period.
Those Nissans look nice, but I know very little about them.

Re: Ford vs Chevy vs Anything else
It was a good deal. He was a deputy in Phoenix who bought cars at auctions on the side. He wanted 2200 for it but the AC didn't work and that's a big deal in Phoenix but I don't need it up here. I wonder what he paid for it at the auction.

I agree...no Chrysler either, not a Fiat fan and they will destroy that brand just like Renault did to AMC back in the day.
Re: Ford vs Chevy vs Anything else
I was driving the other day and I saw a sprinter extended but when I looked at the front grill it said freightliner, so dodge = freightliner ??

Re: Ford vs Chevy vs Anything else
Dodge, Freightliner, and Mercedes all made that platform....Dodge dropped it, but the other 2 I think still build them.
From what I remember about them when they first arrived was that the Dodge version had electical issues and it was suggested to go with the Mercedes version. I have never heard much about the Freightliner version good or bad.
