Nice vid Eric. Was it necessary to keep the original port as an elbow? If it's required maybe you can switch it to a flow through instead. I'm going to presume you want this video entered.

I thought about changing out the elbow. The inside turns down 90 degrees, so it is a double elbow. If I wanted to do much more, I would just get a new tank.

As for a perfectionist, I guess I am when it comes to doing videos. I missed one typo, which I can easily correct, but that would mean rendering it for the oh....10th time. My computer is slow enough that I have to render the finished video to see if I need to change anything. Rendering takes about 30 minutes each time.

Looks real good Eric. I did the same with my machine and used the RC99 as my Y and overall improvement it was about 80 CFM's increase on mine, I did the two straight ports on the front of the waste tank.

You know what would be interesting to see is how much of a decrease you would see if you don't maintain good hose management. Maybe coil the hose a couple of times and see what happens.

This test (coiled hose) has been done by Gerry Miller and a few Butler guys with their live vac hose reel.  
In all cases, airflow decreases in proportion to the number and severity of bends.

It's such a obvious but subtle thing I made it part of
the Big 3 considerations in regard to maximizing airflow:  SHORT, FAT and STRAIGHT.

because no matter how strong or weak your blower, these rules apply.

SHORT hose runs outperforms long hose runs. So have a cuff at the midpoint of your lead hose so you can eliminate the distal half as soon as you can.

FAT hose outperforms skinny hose. 4-to-the-door outperforms 2.5" hose, outperforms 2.0" hose, outperforms 1.5"

STRAIGHT hose runs outperform wiggly/coiled hose runs.

It's not complicated.  Consider air as having physical mass... and the fact that air molecules get slowed down by running into obstructions like the far bend of an air hose.  It's Newton's 2nd Law (transfer of energy) and it applies to water too.
We just saw the phenomenon in MikeW's solution hose Video comparison where he shows how 3/8" hose outperforms 1/4" hose.

Have lunch at any river bend and observe... the whole river comes rushing into the bend at about the same velocity. But then Turbulence occurs.
Along the far bank we see sediment, even boulders and tree roots have been ripped loose from from all the force (Momentum=Mass x Velocity) of the water. Momentum has been transferred from the water to the far bank such that the resulting velocity downstream of the bend is less; diminished in direct proportion to the severity of the bend.  
Along the near back, we see a drop in velocity going into the bend as water encounters - and gives up its energy to - the shallower depths.  
Walk out onto any point or bar and you will sink into the fine sediment that fell out of solution in this low velocity section of river.  But be careful, it's like quicksand.  Downstream, along the near bank, we see another loss in velocity. The bottom obstruction is gone. We see Back Eddies and boils which is exactly what Ashley noticed in his tests, see below.
The net result is that the river lost energy (velocity) going through that bend.
So we see it in meandering rivers  - they have less overall velocity than straight rivers.  
Oxbow lakes develop after major storms, where gushes of high velocity storm water spill over the near bank bypassing the bend altogether.

So we see that Turbulence is our enemy as cleaners. It takes its toll on the masses of both the air & water we need to clean.

The STRAIGHT Rule applies to Filtration systems too. Ashley McKendree, owner Elite Carpet Care showed this very clearly with his landmark study comparing a filter box to a tubular filter. He swapped out a Butler Filter Box with a Silver Bullet and used the cfm meter to observe a very noticeable increase in airflow using the tubular design. Apparently, that tubular filters keeps air flowing straighter - and less turbulent - thus retaining more of its momentum (MxV).  
It's also why I made the loose mesh stainless basket of the RC99 as opposed to a cloth basket..  cuz once airflow is lost, you can't get it back.

If you need any more help understanding this stuff just ask your kids.
