Journey is over Empty Journey is over

Post by milspec6 Thu May 01, 2014 11:58 am

It has been a long process since I started negotiating for this used TNT.  In fact, I started the process after Mo received his TNT and he had time to restore and have it on the job already!!  Thanks to Joe's help with the trucking company and a local welder with a 50 year old tractor (flat tires and needed to jump start it a few times), the machine has made it form the East Coast and up my 95 foot gravel driveway. cheers

Over-all, it looks like the good buy that I was hoping for and after some servicing should be ready to be installed in a box truck.  The only damage we did was when the tractor lost power and the skid slid a bit shearing off the garden hose connection on the control panel....I can live with that, but I was so close to making it clean. Mad

Post by Ryan S Thu May 01, 2014 12:40 pm

Glad all worked out Rob. I got a sweet deal I'm working on too. Your gonna love the TNT.

Only thing that I have problems with is the water box drawing back into the chem jug over night. Now I just pull the tube out and it drains in the step side. Can't get an answer on how to stop this from happening. Maybe it's just the nature if the beast.

I think I could have done better, but they already sold it once (deal fell though for money reasons) and I didn't want to risk losing the deal to someone local Long story short, 7k.

the heat from the #4 is scary... I run most jobs with it set on warm or just a little above. Havent tried it turned way up yet as I dont trust my old hoses right now, but just a little over warm and its reading well over 200 on the machine.

I thought the fuel was going to be more expensive because we went through a full week and the gauge on the tank read only 1/4 left.

Went to get it filled and not only was there still 13/38 gallons left, the price of propane at this spot dropped to $2.30/gal !!!! woot

seriously considering getting a large tank at my house, I can get it delivered for $1.30/gal plus 30cents/mile for the driver which from one place would work out just a few cents more per gallon but then you can do a government rebate on the mileage cost.

I've been looking into a residential storage tank as well. I have a buddy who delivers the propane in this area and can get me a good deal. He fills a few tanks in this town already, so it wouldn't cost me any more than just the propane and tank lease.

That is the trick, they lease the tank instead of selling them to you. That way they control who fills it since you will be under contract with them the whole time. Not a big deal, since he is the guy I would want filling it in the first place.

I am not sure how you transfer the gas to your belly tank....not sure what the steps are involved. I think I will have to look into that one.

AC do you think the number 3 little giant would produce sufficient heat with a 6 flow wand?

I think renting a tank would save some money in the long run especially in your case running the TNT and heat with propane. Make sure you fill it up before the winter hits because they always jack up the price during that time

3HT not enough. I have one and wish I had the 4. On the nasty ones it's hard to keep it at 160 ATW. On regular I can get it to 190. I can clean the burner and spike it to 210 but that don't last long.

Most suppliers out here offer a stable pricing plan to avoid the high winter costs. Last year, propane was over $4.50 / gal for most of the winter....would have been cheaper to live in your van with the engine running. Very Happy Rolling Eyes

Those who were on the pricing plans were only paying about half that. They do pay a little more during the warm months of course, but it makes the budget easier to manage over-all.

Sweet deal, Rob!!  cheers

Looks like new, and the LG#4 is a serious Plus!!  wink

Ryan, do you have a check/one way valve on the end of the hose that goes in chem container??.........if you do, it sounds like it's sticking open, or the spring is sacked out and causing it to not close, which is what prevents back-flow.

Very kind to help out with shipping Joe. I remember when I tried to ship a portable that I sold a few years ago,

UPS told me $1600. needless to say that killed the deal.

That 4ht was on its own pallet...a lot larger heater than I expected actually only seeing a 2ht before.

Joe made the deal happen really, he didn't just help out. The previous buyer (beat me by 20 minutes) was trying to ship across country and was told that it would be close to 3k!!!

When I contacted the seller about the situation a couple of weeks later, they told me that I wouldn't want it since shipping would be well over a grand at least. That is when I called Joe and the deal was struck.

It would not have happened otherwise.

Our 3ht used to have some good heat with a 2 jet wand, cant remember the flow but it got pretty hot.

I would just go with the 4 though because then you have as much as you want on tap, im sure it will get so hot that it wont even be water hitting the carpet anymore, which then reduces the cleaning ability.

Boy I don't know...I'm exhausted after chasing this one around! Razz

It does run well and haven't found any surprises yet. I do want to extend that exhaust down to the dash, but can't find any flex pipe to fit. I guess I will have to set-up a fixed pipe.
