super easy conversion kits. gas here is around 4 bucks a gallon, propane is 2.30 and expected to be lower than 2 bucks this summer

youll still need a tank which is a bit expensive but well worth it if your filling a tank every week or so.

save a lot of money and extend the life of your engine as long as you can fill up somewhere that is convenient.

you can get on average 25% more life out of a small engine without burning carbon plus you can advertise that you burn clean propane.

like on the kohler, rated for 5500hrs on gas, 8500 on LP

Ya the tanks are around 700-750 for a 50 gallon.

but about 650 for a 28 gallon so they dont go up much in price at a certain point.

Propane is absolutely the way to go. It extends the life of your engine, it produces 1/5 the amount of carbon monoxide as gasoline. We offer the TNT with a factory Kohler 25 hp LP engine. These engines have only been available for a few years now. This engine has full warranty out of the box, ready to go; all controls attached. In the old days you had to convert existing gas engines to LP, which would void the warranty of the engine. A TNT with an LP engine running a #4 Little Giant heater under commercial carpet cleaning conditions consumes a total of 1.5 gph of LP. The #4 heater will sustain 240 on a high flow tool until you run out of LP.

The latest thing that I've been working on is compressed natural gas. I was at a carpet cleaning function one time on a stage with all other truckmount manufacturers. We were asked one question: What did we see for the future of truckmounts. I answered that compressed natural gas is the future of our industry. This was in 2009. I've noticed that one of my competitors who was standing next to me is now following my lead. I'm going to let a little secret slip, seeing that my competitors might need some more information. I'm working on a field system for compressed natural gas that is connected to your home natural gas line. Once the details of this have been worked out, the cost of the fuel will be 48 cents per gallon. We will run the truck, truckmount, and the heater all on compressed natural gas. The 25 HP propane engine can easily be converted to run on compressed natural gas with no problem. To convert the #4 Little Giant heater to compressed natural gas, we simply change the jets.

I've often thought about CNG but worried about how to fill the vans at 2am on the commercial route

I am with you on that....I only know of about 6 places within 45 miles of me that fill vehicles and only one is open late. I guess it would just come down to logistics and good planning.

you can get the home natural gas filling stations now but they are expensive, I found one for 5k.

Im sure in the near future that wont be the case and they will be cheaper and easier to get.

When that catches up with the times and drops price, I would seriously look at that.
