Neoprene/latex gloves

Neoprene/latex gloves
Do you use them? If you do, do you find them to be thin and not sustain a full use during one job? What kind are you using? What is the quantity and cost? What do you like and dislike about the ones you use.

Re: Neoprene/latex gloves
I use the Hell out of them, for my own safety! Go threw about a box every 1-2 weeks. Boxes I buy are 50 pairs, or 100 gloves.
I learned my lesson by getting a couple staph infections a few years ago by not being careful enough, so now I use the crap outa the hand sanitizer, and gloves. I never clean or touch the RC99 filter without gloves on, other than to just pick it up by the handle, and I wear them anytime I touch dirty carpet, do a repair, and especially if the floor or house is nasty looking I will ALWAYS wear them.
The gloves I buy from HF are Nitrile.......I'll go get the info on them and post it, stand by, I'll be back. :geek: .............................

Re: Neoprene/latex gloves
I agree with Davey, use them all day every day.
I like the "Safegrip" latex gloves by Microflex. They are longer than most, textured fingertips, and really thick (16 mil). Never tears on me.
Not exactly cheap at $11 per box of 50, but one pair will last for the entire job, so you get 50 jobs of protection for $11...not bad.

Re: Neoprene/latex gloves
Ok, so 99% of the time I wear the 5 mil Nitrile gloves from Harbor Freight, and I stock up when they are on sale, for usually $5.99-6.99. Right now looks like they are about normal price @ $7.49 for box of 100.
I do also keep a box of the 7 mil Nitrile gloves around too, they're noticeably thinker and more durable, which I will sometimes use around the garage when working on the cars/van or if I'm working with sharp metal, because they are much less prone to tear...........but the disadvantage in being thinker is you loose your feel, and they're more expensive, always by a buck or three lol a box vs. the light blue 5 mil. And only 50 per box, so that's well over double the cost!
The light blue 5 mil. gloves are a nice compromise between fairly durable and priced right........these are what I use daily when cleaning, and if I need extra protection I just double them up. The other thing I like about the HF gloves is, the two I've mentioned are "Powder free". Powder can be helpful making them easier to put on, but for me not hardly worth it mess it creates, matter of fact I hate powder and avoid at all cost!
Here's the links to the two I mentioned..............
5 mi nitrile
7 mil nitrile

Re: Neoprene/latex gloves
I understand, Robs thinking behind the thicker gloves because they are durable.............
But, I need to be able to feel, and so real thick doesn't work for me. I can't even imagine wearing 16 mil., for me it would be like having a block wall between my finger tips and what I'm touching.
Rob check out the HF gloves, they have even thicker than what I mentioned, and they may be less expensive than what you're paying now.

Re: Neoprene/latex gloves
The dexterity isn't as bad as it sounds with the 16 mil, but it is certainly not as good as the 7 mil gloves. Still, the thicker gloves never leave me with a torn glove at a bad moment.
I will look into the HF gloves, the price sure would be beneficial.

Re: Neoprene/latex gloves
get the black lightning ones at the auto parts store. a little more expensive but they are super thick, I use them working on cars and they dont rip and protect your hands.
I hate the thin blue ones

Re: Neoprene/latex gloves
We use the blue gloves from sams club as well as the gloves from auto supply store, I as well got a serious infection a couple of years ago, I do not wish to repeat that occurrence, I discovered in Dec had not gotten rid of all the problems -- so now I am safer than sorry. It is something that really should not be messed with. I wear the gloves all the time around and in the truck, no matter what I am doing. You only go around once, prtect what you got!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Neoprene/latex gloves
The problem with many of the gloves out there is that they are just too short....or maybe my hands are just too long. Either way, getting a glove that will provide enough coverage to cover a couple inches up the arm will go a long way to protecting your health.
