Do you guys wear gloves on jobs?
I wear a Nitrile, Latex, Vinyl type gloves for every job....I love how they keep my hands out of chems and customer crud. I dont notice anyone wearing them and was curious last nigh on a job. I carry back ups of all my products as I dont know if I could even work without them now. I will use three to four sets a day. They are handy when doing upholstery too for getting animal hair.

ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS!
Place a sample of your waste water on a slide and view it under a microscope....you will find just about every strain of bacteria and many active viruses under the Sun in there.
Double the gloves up in fact.

In addition to your safety, think of the customer's. If you handle the filth / chemicals with bare hands, you can expose your customer after you handle the railings, door knob, counter tops, etc.
I even go as far as keeping some Sporicidin Hand Soap on the trucks to wash up after cleaning. No reason to bring your work home with you.

Good point Rob.....I'm a bit anal on cleaning and preventing...I just don't see others doing it and thought I would ask you guys. I know no one here uses them and it makes me think about that hand shake....lol

Not sure what makes you think no one here uses them, lol, Davey always use them, I started using them a few months ago and would never go to work without them now, my hands calluses have been much better now since I started wearing them and they are also not dry anymore from chemicals.

I would like to find a latex glove that came in a true white color. That might look better than black, blue, or natural.

You will really like it. Not only does it sanitize well, but it contains aloe so no drying. I have found it useful on burns, insect bites, rashes, and even removes odors from your hands when slicing onions.
A case of the pump bottles often lasts me all year....a little goes a long way.
Re: Do you guys wear gloves on jobs?
I don't agree with the sporicidin for use all day. Over use of disinfectants can back fire. Yes hand protection from HP and other products is recommended. I could never wear latex/vinyl gloves. The vac would rip them right off.
Re: Do you guys wear gloves on jobs?
True and valid concern on the over-use of disinfectants, but there isn't a big risk with washing the hands.
Everyone has their own signature bacteria to their hands, it is actually being used instead of fingerprints in some areas now. Even after extensive washing, you body will repopulate that bacteria signature in a very short time.
Washing up with the Sporicidin will prevent the alien bacteria (gram negative mostly) and viruses from making you ill. The normal bacteria will come right back. Same goes for just washing up with a bar of soap only you have to be more diligent to equal the results.

Good advice, did not know that, will buy some asap.
Re: Do you guys wear gloves on jobs?
I have the really thick white nitrile ones on board. Not the crappy partial see though ones that rip easily.
These ones are made for mechanic work and dont rip easy. Ill check the brand if your interested Mil, sounds like the ones you want.
I had black ones but felt too much like a cat burglar or hitman wearing them in customers homes lol

Re: Do you guys wear gloves on jobs?
I think it's hard to beat the light blue 5 mil Nitrile Powder-Free Gloves from harbor freight.......Especially when they're on sale often for $4.99 a box. That's when I stock up.

Yeah that's the one I use too, harbor freight 5 ml, a couple times my vacuum tried to suck it up but it doesn't rip, usually it rips if it gets wet and then get stuck to something, as long as I keep it dry during wanding and pre spraying, it's pretty strong.

That sounds exactly like what I am looking for....I never liked the thief look either.
Re: Do you guys wear gloves on jobs?
Personally, I've always like the Black Nitrile gloves. It's all I use. I get them from Shubee, where I get my shoe covers.

Re: Do you guys wear gloves on jobs?
I have boxes of really nice long wrist blue ones that I use for haz-mat work, but they are over-kill for cleaning. I do use the black nitrile now that I get at the Ag. store in the veterinarian section. They work well, but I think the image just isn't right for residential...commercial is fine though.
Re: Do you guys wear gloves on jobs?
Of course, safety is the first concern while on job. And for being safe you should wear gloves always.
Re: Do you guys wear gloves on jobs?
Sometimes doubling them up isn't a bad idea either.
With these flood jobs, I wear the nitrile gloves with mechanic's gloves over them. I have no desire to get pricked by a tack strip and end up needing booster shots.

Re: Do you guys wear gloves on jobs?
switched up the other day to atlas landscape gloves and really liking them more than disposables.
Re: Do you guys wear gloves on jobs?
Funny how everyone is all in on the gloves but I rarely see it outside of me doing it. Around here is what I measure from. I use the Black....when it comes time to get paid it helps when you get a weird look on your face and have black killer gloves on.
AC....Im going to try those, I hate how the current ones hold so much moisture.

Re: Do you guys wear gloves on jobs?
At the plant we wore cut and puncture-resistant gloves all the time. You were not allowed to do as much as brew coffee without them.
Those atlas gloves look like the same ones we used in the high radiation areas for work gloves. Very comfortable and allow excellent dexterity for a glove.
I have contemplated about going back to police frisk gloves. They are puncture resistant, and have a barrier to block block liquids like blood and urine. My last pair were these:

I have no idea where I left them though

Re: Do you guys wear gloves on jobs?
the atlas gloves are nice because they breathe much better than disposables and you can grab a really hot qd with them no problem.
They are a bit thicker so takes a little getting used to
