Hiring the neighbor kid
This might get me in trouble, but it worked.
I was cleaning 6 apartments today and at one of them, the little girl that lived next door came over. She kept asking to help and grabbing things. I was afraid she was going to grab onto the solution hose and burn herself so I decided to hire her to "keep watch" at the door and to tell me if the carpet looked clean enough. Then I gave her a couple of business cards and told her that if anyone asks what we are doing to tell them that we are the best carpet cleaners in town...then give them a business card.
She was about 5 or 6 years old and was a real trooper. She had a good eye for clean carpet and handed out 3 cards along with the statement that we were the best cleaners around. I gave her $3 and thanked her.
I know it sounds strange, but it was the only way I could get her to stay away from the solution hose...she sure wanted to help. Who knows, I might get a job out of it.

Mark Twain could not have said it better

I had one the other day like that. He wanted to roll up the CC hose one the reel. I told him to ask his mom. She said yeah. So I told him to climb in the back and stem art spinning the reel. I helped a little. BTW that's what I did on Father's Day.

Re: Hiring the neighbor kid
One time I let a kid clean a small patch of carpet with the stair wand, mothers permission of course, ran all the heat out of the solution line 1st. Kid was about 5-6 years old. He still talks about it, and how excited he was. He is old enough to drive now.
