For those who are not already using this resource, or if like me, haven't looked at the 2010 results, this is a good time to take a look. It is one of the rare Federal Government programs that have some value to a small business.

Just look at your area and you can see lots of valuable information. The number of homes, age breakdown, income rates, how many are female or retired can make a big difference in how you market your area. Don't fail to use information sources like these.

I never updated my view on my local market in the last 6 years and found some significant charges being reported in the 2010 Census that I need to consider. The only flaw is that it doesn't cover the small towns in this area...I guess they didn't matter to anyone to track. Sad

Research is for nerds  Milspec.

It's perty simple for a non - nerd  to figure out what part of town the rich people live in without a government report.

The non-  nerd also  knows  ,,

IF the mini mart  on the corner has graffiti on the walls ,  don't market that neighborhood .

Depends on what type of marketer, and how good you are.

Demographics are everything to a GREAT marketer. It's pretty hard to scratch out a living marketing to the top 3% of the wealth.

It's kinds in the same vein as guys who turn off their market talking about a fire breathing TM. Women don't care about that, like men do. And most guys have no idea about TM's anyway.  Women are the lions share of our client list.
