The Unwanted Helper
You've all been there, your doing a job, going along just fine- then someone- customer, restaurant manager, bystander, housewife or building managers brother in this case, decides you need your hoses pulled back. You find this out as the wand is almost ripped from your hands while cleaning. You kindly explain that your just fine! No help needed. They insist! You try and explain that you need a little slack, you might have to get behind a door or face the wall head on. They don't get it. They now have you on a tight lease, every inch they can gain of you solution an vac house is victory to them. You grin and bear it, you explain once more kindly that this is not helping you...... Gives new meaning to the expression "Cut me some slack". I guess it just goes with the job.
Re: The Unwanted Helper
Been there done that. It's just another moment for you to shine. After repeatedly declining assistance to no avail, if you take the time to include them and make them feel part of the process you win. Explain all the dangers and teach them how to do it properly. Make a new friend.

Excellent advice there.
Re: The Unwanted Helper
Lol I had a customer I cleaned for years and every time he would bust out the gardening gloves and stand 6 feet behind me holding the hoses bent over like he is about to toss a football between his legs. He seemed so sad the day I showed up with an assistant.

HaHA
A cleaning friend and myself have always called that "The Short Change", when a new helper or customer holds the hose close behind you and doesn't give you any slack!
Guess it's part of this biZ! LOL

Re: The Unwanted Helper
That's so true, I tell them they can't help because they are not insured as an employee. I can't stand when they do that.
Re: The Unwanted Helper
give them a bottle of orange solve and a knife and find some gum for them to remove. They will get bored quickly!
Re: The Unwanted Helper
As soon as they say "can I help you" I say Thanks. But I will have to charge extra. They soon get joke and leave me to it.

Re: The Unwanted Helper
Too funny, the short change, fighting them on the forward stroke, have them remove gum! Cracking me up!
