Carpet Cleaner vs Endodontist

Last year I went to give an estimate to a good size dental office building and it consists of several dentists offices including one endodontist office, which happened to be at the end of the building, after I'm done, the building manager was still talking to the endodontist but she said go ahead, so I gave her my estimate and she said, ok, how long will it take you, I answered, immediately the endodontist replied, so you charged $ 200 an hour, and I said, pretty much, he started shaking his head and at that point I was annoyed by him and I told him well, I had root canal a couple of months ago and he charged me $ 675 for 3 hours worked, he replied yeah well how long do you think he went to school, I told him I don't know, how much do you think my carpet cleaning machine and equipment worth ? He couldn't answer me and that's that, guess what, we ended up getting the job anyway   

Ha, I had the same conversation with this traveling big time sale's guy. He wanted 4 bathrooms top to bottom natural stone cleaned and sealed and all his floors... he thought he's worth more than a $1000 a day and doesn't understand how I could make more than him in one day. Sometimes putting people in your shoes for a second really works wonders. Congrats!

when that happens to me, im floored at how people expose how they view "Carpet Cleaners" or in this case the middle class.  

yep same here once had this guy say " I'm a lawyer an I don't make that much"

I said and When I was a lawyer I diffident make that much either that's why I'm doing this.

Kind of a blank stare and he just paid me.
