I use it a lot to freshen the waste tank. Just suck in a couple of cups through my filter before ramping up the machine idle. It has a great smell UNLESS you over-do it. Add too much and it will make you miserable.

Millspec are you talking about their disenfectant/sanitizer or their carpet cleaner? They now sell both, it seems like the carpet cleaner might be an encapsulant as well.

For my use I use 3 cups at 3 gph. I just want it to help rinse and provide a little kick in cleaning. It does that very well at that mix

If you want to one step with it pour half the gallon in and meter at 3 or 4

ODO BAN Carpet Cleaner? Empty Re: ODO BAN Carpet Cleaner?

As a porty hack, I am a big fan of their disinfectant/deodorizer line.

The fragrance on the citrus is minimal and very weak at best, the eucalyptus is very potent but I think too odd to use in anyones home, but the lavender is my go to for overall porty hygiene, especially as a general deodorizer rinse and the waste tank wash.

I'm not sure, but I think it's sanitizing properties, which are worthy of a quick look, are quat based, but I'm not sure.

I have used it often as a general anti-mirco rinse on simple flood jobs like acute flooded basements or fresh water leaks and such with good success.

As far as the cleaner, of course it might suffice in a jam and under the right conditions, but being marketed primarily to the common consumer, I would not expect it to outperform anything offered to us professionally, and value a certain confidence in using the "good shoot" as often as I can.

I find that when a particular jobs results fall short of my expectations, it's lot less frustrating to narrow down the potential causes, when you can't easily rule out the possibility that the Home Depot hack cocktail that you conjured up, was not up to the task at hand.

Although I am guilty of dipping into the sinful waters of the readily available Home Depot products from time to time, I tend to always keep it limited to secondary products like boosters and spotters, and find my main go-to prespray, primary emulsifying rinse and speciaty productsto be too important to compromise by not using top shelf, premium, proven products, whatever the price.?

You mean the 3-in-1 bonnet/traffic/extraction cleaner they have?

Does bonnet cleaning capabilities necessarily indicate encapsulation properties?

As far as their disenfectant/sanitizer goes- they do something DRI-Eaz and other carpet solution makers don't recommend it for porous surfaces. I have been told that that it's a legalese thing. But if you read the Milgo label or any other in our industry- they will not guarantee or recommend it for porous surfaces. WTF? That's what is used for! Read Odoban's label- they recommend it. As far as I am concerned legally you are better off using a product that actually states it intended use right ion the label. Same ingredients 1/4 the price, better selection of scents. Used the Odoban 3 in 1 cleaner the last 2 days- pretty impressed. Been at this for 30 years, I just don't go with the "PRO" products automatically anymore, been burned to many times- Case in point- Hydrogen peroxide ( pet stain remover) from Carpet supplies 12% $22, From leslies pool store 27% $19.00. Knowledge is power.

Heck for $9.99 it's defiantly worth a shot. That's one of the reasons I like to clean empty rat nasty rentals. It's a great lab.

You guys don't feel weird at all about claiming to be a professional cleaner and using a chem from HD , the same thing a customer can go easily buy?

I take pride in, when asked "what do you use to clean with"? Telling them it's pro cleaning solutions that can't be bought in stores by them..........it would be hard to say that if using something I got from HD and they could too.

Only thing we use from home depot is folex and its only for furniture stains when nothing else works.

its a unique blend of surfactants, The formula was made in like the 50s I think lol.

Its terrible for customers to use since its so soapy theres no way they could rinse it out well

for some reason if you have a really bad varnish transfer you can soak it down with folex, let it sit for an hr while you do the rest of the job and ive had a lot of success with it when nothing else works

Professional is as professional does. Customers do not have large Truck mounted extractors to use it with. Don't worry about stigma or semantics, what works works. I don't give a hoot. What the customer doesn't know wont hurt them. If it meets the following criteria I'm happy
1. Works well
2. leaves minimal residue
3. Not very toxic
4. Cost effective

This product meets all those requirements- Has DFE and Woolsafe symbol I believe- for what that's worth anyway.

A true professional doesn't have to hide behind a cleaning product. Besides ,, no one is suggesting that odoban be used as your cleaning product, It does make a great rinse and does the same thing that $30 per gallon stuff does.

It rinses better then water, which is what many guys are using.

I have had a few carpets that the customer used something that turns the carpet off white or yellow white. They tell me they used some spot cleaner, might have been folex?

Post by Cjcann Wed Apr 15, 2015 1:33 pm

I have been using the odo ban 3-in 1 carpet cleaner for about a week. Pretty impressive. If you boost it with a solvent as a TLC for the rat nasties I think it should work well. I can tell it's coconut based as I can smell coconuts when I open the gallon. It has a bit of encapusalant in it. I can tell by the residue in the measuring cup when it dries- flakes to a powder. Now I have to figure out it's true cost next to powders. I wonder what 3 cups of powdered surfactant weighs, lets say Kleerite pc3, One gallon has 16 cups. 3 cups for 5 gallons of stock= about 5 ( 5 gallon) containers full, $9/5= $1.80 per 5 gallons of mixed product metered at 3 gph. Not bad. And it does have a DFE and Woolsafe symbol on the bottle

Encap + surfactant working well with a little solvent boost on the nasties?

Same approach I use by mixing my S/O + S/O/E + booster....the approach is a winner and I like coconut smell. Now throw it under a rotary extractor for the full benefit.

Sounds like you found your signature brew then. Once you find your mix, life gets so much easier in regards to stocking and ordering.
