New Seal-A-Door Universal mounts and carry Brackets Ready!
Here is the information from Ron Hunkins with Seal-A-Door.
When we were in Vegas during the convention, we met with Jeremy from Aerotech needing a universal easy to install, safe and durable set of mounting brackets to make it even better with the Seal-A-Door. We looked at all the vans and truckmounts that were at the show to try and come up with something that could work for as many as possible (or everyone).
So, I have been using these for some time now and they are really great. Would even work for a number of other hanging needs. I am putting together a grouping of pics also of my install.
This is what Ron posted on Facebook today….Just wanted to share so it might help those of you with this storage concern.
Available in 3 weeks...12 gauge stainless steel ceiling or wall mount brackets made exclusively for Seal-A-Door storage by Aero Tech Manufacturing. These heavy duty, burr free, high quality "hangers" are the perfect solution for "How do I store my Seal-A-Door?". One set (for wall mount) is priced at $28; two sets (for ceiling mount) priced at $49. These "product specific" brackets are only available thru Seal Canvas Products (www.sealcanvas.com).
Here is a short video of the brackets also.
Not my best roll job on the Seal-A-Door, but can see how well it fits and it stays in place well. I have been down some really bumpy and crazy roads testing it too!
Instructions and Brackets….Mirobrew IPA not included….LOL…
Tape just being used to hold things together as I try to figure out where to mount them best.
Three holes available….You will only use 2, so next pic is with the middle hole X’d out since not using it.
Drill pre hole in ceiling bracket….and DON”T drill through your roof….heck even I was able to handle that
Use Blue Loctite on the screws and silicone sealant so you don’t have squeaks and it will help to secure the brackets even more. These units have been designed to be mounted in thin materials as most of us have in vans, ect…
Put silicone where the 2 brackets come together to make one…I also ended up putting black electrical tape on one of the units (testing)
Will need a short Phillip’s screw driver to mount the brackets with screws provided in your predrilled holes.
I ended up finding the best spot for my front bracket was next to the live water fill reel and towards the back end of the reel (closer to the rear doors you could say)
Suggest also mounting your front bracket first.
Going to actually get rid of these other hooks I have for extra wand storage as these brackets will save space for that purpose.

At some point you are just going to have to upgrade to a cube van or box truck Mark....I would be scared to see how much stuff you could pack in one of those.
Still looks organized, I can't say the same for myself.

I wish there was a bigger tall van say available.
I know I cannot get a box truck into a lot of areas I work in.
Just had one yesterday that if I had a box truck...I would have still been there today.
Lake home....terrible hill, not turn around....had to back the van out of the driveway half a mile.
Crazy places sometimes....and some of them are multi million dollar lake "CABINS"

I know what you mean, I would say that about 25% of my old clients are unreachable by box truck. Hell, some are barely reachable by van.

Mark, I don't know if you know this already but Ford is releasing a new line of Ford Transit with 3 different heights and lengths, now when Dave told me about Transit, I thought about the small tiny vans, those are Transit connects, the Transit is replacing the E series.
A question for you, where did you get the wand handle ?? it looks like it curves up like Joe's new handle and Mytee handle, but yours looks much bigger than those 2.

That reminds me, of the new thread I've been meaning to start on the New Gen. vans. ....Which I think all the manufactures will have out for 2015.

That spare wand is a Mytee swivel Bentley. I actually only use it for getting under beds. Not really a fan of it otherwise. Love my Prochem Ti Wands.
That handle was on it from Mytee.
The Ford vans in talking with Butler do not have a frame under them being a uni body and so there is really no comfortable way that Butler (and maybe others I am hearing) would put a truckmount direct drive unit in them.
The Dodge sprinter I guess they feel does not have a strong enough crankshaft to support the stress of a direct drive unit (lighter to spin easier and make more horsepower) GM is keeping the current platform for another couple years so that is the preferred unit right now.
I am sure the truckmount manufacturers have a handle on this, but that is all I know at this time.

Lots of interesting material in that last post.
I have that same wand (love the access it provides under beds and in closets, but otherwise not a fan either), but never thought about that handle design when Joe rolled out his new style. It has a thick rubber coating over the handle as well.
From what I understand, the Transit is all uni body from the cab back, so it would struggle to handle a truckmount. I guess you could build a custome frame for it to reinforce things, but would probably create cracks down the road.
I never heard that about the Sprinter, does it apply only to the gas models or the diesels as well? I find it tough to believe that a diesel would have a weak crank, but I guess it is possible.

Not sure about the diesel but was more about the gas powered. I know Butler has done a few diesel but lean more towards the gas I think for the idle factor and to make heat with their heat exchanger system.
I don't know all the exact info but have had some conversation with some people skilled in the decision area of vehicle selection and Truckmount set up.
I think in the case of Butler, durability, performance and safety are pretty essential. Don't think they want to put something out to the consumers that will be a problem for everyone.
I see them as cautious and smart about their business model but still looking to bring reliable performing equipment to us in the field.

Re: New Seal-A-Door Universal mounts and carry Brackets Ready!
I agree, there is no gain for Butler to run off and take a risk like that and you are correct about a diesel not being known for rpm nor heat, but Vortex units are direct drive, aren't they?
I have been running Butler units for a long time as well and still recall all those years when they wouldn't put a system in a box truck either, but they came around to that eventually, I suspect that you will see a Butler in a diesel very soon...maybe not a Sprinter, but probably an NPR / W.
