El diablo solenoid
Anyone know of a local source for a fuel solenoid on an El Diablo heater?
Have an El Diablo that will only heat at max output, but don't have time to wait for the part from Masterblend. Anyone know if there is another industry that uses the same solenoid....automotive, construction heaters...?

Re: El diablo solenoid
I have a diesel fired unit that I have been able to find almost all parts for except the diesel heater, Italian made I think.
Re: El diablo solenoid
Try the pressure washing places in your town.

Re: El diablo solenoid
If it's part of the Italian/euro,diesel/kero heater you are going to have a very hard time finding any parts. Masterblend and their subsidiaries are the only places I could find in this country that stock or sell parts. If you find a source please let me know.
Re: El diablo solenoid
Gotta love those proprietary parts huh. ;(

If you can find any info on the valve ie. co name model # patent # put it into your search engine and you may be surprised what you can find.

Re: El diablo solenoid
Thanks, guys.
I ended up finding a used one at the local distributor....how good it is, I don't know yet. I'm still going to try and find another source...I'll post it if I can.
As for the machines? The TNT and Butler are mine, the El Diablo is sort of a joint venture deal. It is being used by another cleaner who went under, I helped him keep the van and I carry paper on it. He pays me a monthly and subs on some larger jobs in exchange.

That's why I bought that tnt....tired of being at the mercy of someone else. Just look at my latest on the butler, the silencer is all rusted out and is about $1600 to get a replacement to my door. They build their own units, so there is no local option other than reverse engineering it.
I just got a used one by UPS today, but it still cost me $600 to my door. Now I have to find the time to replace it.
Re: El diablo solenoid
I know, I've heard too many stories over the years.
And one of the main reasons I stick with my old basic TM, and will be restoring it before replacing with something else.
Glad to hear you were able to find the part tho.

Re: El diablo solenoid
The heater is the only thing that is tough to find parts for on The El Diablo. The coupler, switches and most other parts are available over the counter. I remember Prochem trying to charge me $500 for an alternator I found at the auto parts store or $70. They lost a customer for life with that nonsense. When you say the solenoid, I am still not sure which part you mean, can you post a pic?

I will try and get a pic of it, but it is the fuel pump solenoid. The used one didn't solve the problem, so it might end up being something else or just a bad part....it was an untested part. The flow switch checked out okay, so I thought it was likely the solenoid. There might be another surprise waiting when that part gets here.
It will fire up, but no regulation....just full blast. The hoses were getting cooked.
Speaking of the El Diablo, there is a nice one on ebay right now that is only a couple of hours from me. If anyone was in the market for one, I would be glad to help you with it. I am actually tempted to check it out myself and use that instead of the tnt just for the diesel heater aspect. Well, then again, my tnt is almost brand new and the Diablo has a little over 2,000 hours, so maybe not.
Re: El diablo solenoid
Check your temp controller or the sensor bulb are bad it will not tell the heater to shut off.

Re: El diablo solenoid
When I first got my diesel burner it would peg 250 and then some and wouldn't shut off. Defective sensor bulb, it had split wide open. Worth checking like Eddie suggested.

Thanks guys.

I almost bought a used butler for 4300.00 but man after looking at the internals Im not sure how much work I could do on one of those. Im all about the slide ins with easy bolt on bolt off parts.
Re: El diablo solenoid
Curious...what about the butler internals concerns you?
All the lines have quick connections, easy access to pump and blower, external heat exchanger...not a problem there. The wiring at the control panel can get a little cramped, but they use automotive components, so I just let my mechanic deal with that when the van is in for servicing.
I'm not saying that a butler is the ideal choice for everyone, it isn't, but working on one hasn't been bad for me.
I do wish it was on a slide so that you could pull it out to work on instead of crawling into the van, but that is the same with any machine. I am just not that flexible at times.

Re: El diablo solenoid
You know you can call Brent at Mastercraft and he will diagnose your problem for free, excellent customer service! Call Masterblend and tell them you have a problem with your El Diablo Truckmount and would like to speak with Brent. I have a plethora of flow switches and stuff I can send you as well, sometimes debris gets caught in the flow switch causing the burner to stay on, pressure spikes as well with this situation. I recently found my heater control wires had melted and fused together as they touched the side of the heater. Retaped them good to go. PM me if you need a flow switch or the magnet that flows in there.
