Post by Matt; My carpet cleaner Tue Feb 03, 2015 10:55 pm

So I got a new Samsung S4 the other day. I'm looking for input on hands free piece. I'd like one that cuts out noise around you while talking on the phone, good clarity communication for both people on the phone, and will set/sit well on the ear. Around the ear or behind the neck are ones I've been looking at. Not the 'ol cheap one that won't stay in place, like: http://www.amazon.com/iKross-Wireless-Bluetooth-Handsfree-Headset/dp/B003NB88DO/ref=sr_1_75?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1423029162&sr=1-75&keywords=s10
Prefer something like these:
http://www.amazon.com/iKross-Wireless-Bluetooth-Handsfree-headset/dp/B008DKCJGW/ref=sr_1_401?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1422930806&sr=1-401&keywords=s4+bluetooth

http://www.amazon.com/Bluetooth-Headphone-reduction-cancellation-Cellphones/dp/B00KQE0VQI/ref=sr_1_16?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1423028662&sr=1-16&keywords=s4+bluetooth

Don't want one like the drive thru fast food.

Suggestions?

Someone else posted about the Plantronics voyager on this board a couple of years back. A little pricey at $100 but it looks like you are looking for quality. They raved about it!

Blue Parrot has the best noise cancelling in the industry and has some options that don't go over the head. I have the B250XT which makes you look like a dork, but it has the best clarity and noise suppression of any headset I've ever used.

Eric is right on the money, I've wasted so much money on bluetooths, I've tried plantronics and jabra and motorola, all claim noise cancelling technology, the trophy goes to blue parrot B250XT, fyi the blue parrot that don't go over the head is not nearly as good as the b250xt, I bought a couple of them for my tech and ended up returning them, he said that he struggles to keep it paired with his phone, keep in mind the problem could be the phone's software, but with the b250xt I can talk in front of my machine running at medium speed ( single wand setting ) and the customer won't hear any of the noises.
Oh, I also dropped mine a couple of times and got rained on and it still works, that thing is a tank.
The only negative like Eric said is the shape made you look like a failed secretary laughing

ya the parrot is cool but just too bulky for me to work with plus    NO MUSIC lol   and idk maybe Im self conscious but too dorky, like drive thru fast food guy

I actually was going to make a post about these but ill just put it here since its same subject,

these are the best thing Ive bought for carpet cleaning in a while.    Wireless,  battery life is great,  you can beat them up and they wont break,

music,  ear protection,  answer calls all in one.     All controls are on the right ear,   volume,  skip tracks forward/back,  answer calls,   etc

http://www.amazon.com/Jabra-REVO-Wireless-Bluetooth-Headphones/dp/B00BFO14W8

I remember when I very first started cleaning carpet doing the huge hospital account,    always had music on..      I love it,   just makes work easy and keeps you focused

these out perform the $400.00 beats by dre headphones in music quality,  durability,   etc

I dont think you can blast metallica at full volume in your car and still talk to a customer lol,   but the mic quality is really high

I am all in favor of listening to music on long commercial jobs, it is a huge difference in fatigue. I don't know if I really want the phone tied to it though.

I guess I prefer to focus on the job at hand without phone intrusions, but that also costs me some business. I might have to change my ways, it does look like a great option.

In the busy season it can really hurt to not have the bluetooth on 9-5

I gave up on headphones about 3yrs back because the cord would always get caught on something and rip them out of my ear

I feel like with music I can clean all day

I can see how that would be pretty important during the busy season....it will be a new need for me this year, so I guess I need to upgrade.

Thanks for the tip.

I just cant get myself to stop what I'm doing, pick up the phone, sell my service to a potential client and schedule the job while I'm cleaning in a customers phone.

Are you saying you can't drive, talk to customers on the phone and schedule them at the same time ? dancing

Just watch Congress on this one gang, the the DOT wants to ban all phone activity in vehicles....even hands-free. They have even discussed making it mandatory for new vehicles to be equipped with shielding to block your phone's service when the engine is running.

Just saying....watch closely.

I don't think that's going to go anywhere, too much $$ involved from political contributors to make sure it won't pass, imagine kock brothers can't make important conference call from their limo ? That will cost them billions at the end of the year.
Besides if that happens I will stick to my current vans until I can't repair them any more and I'll have to take a chance with getting tickets since I schedule 60 - 80 % of my jobs on the road, the tickets are not moving violations anyway ( won't go towards the points allowed each year ).

It does seem far fetched to believe this could actually pass, but I have been fooled a lot over the last 15 years with this Congress.

I guess I have been lucky, or just not very busy, as I conduct business from the van far less than that. I normally receive 80% of my calls in the mornings before 10 am and the rest via emails in the evenings.

Really, once my cleaning day starts, people don't call me.....they do hit me up all over town however. That is one of the characteristics of working in small towns.

Just got the Bose Bluetooth this past month. Nice sound and people like it on the other end

Some of my Motorolas have been good, but wearing and sweating I can burn them out

I also got the new Motorola that you can hardly see and comes with a holding /charging case... Can't remember name right now.. But not great sound in my opinion

Not sure how the Bose will hold up, but some good things about it. I have to go to my settings all the time to link it up to my Samsung Galaxy S5 though...

Mark, how's the noise cancellation on that bose ? Have you test it in front of your machine while it's working ?

I've always wondered how sweat would affect those Bluetooths. It has to be comfortable for me to wear one don;t really care how it looks. I have to start picking up phone calls

Anyone use the Qi charger?
Where you lay your phone on top of the devices pad; you don't plug the phone in to charge.
