My new turbo "TOMCAT" vacuum
So my buddy is going up to Medford OR. to finish getting his stuff he just had SS 570 installed last week, but he found a very large com vacuum for sale he is going to look at 26-28" cleaning path.
So it got me thinking while I was drinking and I came up with this....going to try it today let you know how it works. It has @ 26" cleaning path see how it works on empties.

Re: My new turbo "TOMCAT" vacuum
I always worry about those types of things. They spin so fast that I would worry about burning the fabric...especially those olefins.
Re: My new turbo "TOMCAT" vacuum
Use one or a variation of one every day. I cut relief holes in the top of the stainless 1 1/4" wand/tube. When I vacuum i cover the holes if I need more vac and leave open if less is desired. They work great. Best to install a magnet in the front to pick up paperclips, nails, tacks etc. Make sure that you clean something first in order to wet down the knee hi in your filter 1st, this way no dry dust gets in your blower. I haven't carried an electric vac in 25 years. Why would I waste the space? Once you remove the tube you can store this vac in almost no space at all. 1/4 the weight easy to transport in to the job I have the best vacuum in the world with my truckmount and one of these units.milspec6 wrote:I always worry about those types of things. Well, I'll tell you "why I waste the space"..........
Several reasons, besides the ones you alreay mentioned.
And to name a few others, like Rob said, making sure you don't burn poly/oly carpet......which it sounds like you have figured out, but accidents happen and what if a guy has employes, then you have to rely on them paying attn and caring like you do.........it's just way to easy to burn/damage it, for me to consider taking the chance. The other things that come in to play, would be..........
Encap cleaning, you sure don't want to run hose to TM just to vac, and not possible sometimes.
Another that would be big for me is vacuuming after re-stretching or doing a repair, if you're not HWE cleaning afterwards.
And if I use my TM to vac then I'm just clogging up my filter, which means I need to clean it another time.
For me, it's not like a real vac takes up that much room, and well worth it to me being able to do a proper job, without the issues that can or do come along with using a suction driven vac.
But I do like Toms idea on the 'wide "turbo" vac' invention for large areas.

Dr Frankenstein is at it again
Wouldn't there be a space of no suction were the two Tomcats meet?

Re: My new turbo "TOMCAT" vacuum
Ive never used a turbo head but like the idea of it.
Pre vac'ing is a tough part of our business, in a big house it feels like your cleaning the whole place twice once you get to the steam cleaning.
I think most carpet cleaners that are busy or run multiple trucks rush the pre vac anyways. I dont mind on smaller 4 area jobs but big 10+ room homes I hate it.

There is but minimal, the crazy thing worked. I think it worked better than ONE as far as the vacuum overload you get with one, being two vac heads it handled the cfm from the truck mount better.
I really NEED A MAGNET I used to have one years ago for my vac it went across the front of it....Do any of you know where to buy them ?? I don't even know what to ask for.
Here was the first run, the handle was a little long but I was in such a hurry to get out the door, working on better handle but man you can vac a empty in no time.
