Not a bad price really. The crush value for the metal is around $300. Parting it out might make 2k, but who has the time and space to do that?

at first I told her I would talk to my son. They called me 15 minutes later she was told to offer me more if they could pick it up today. The guy that picked it up dais the honda civics are really popular at junk yard. I would Imagine because of all the kids running into stuff all time

Well, actually, there are some very expensive items in autos.

Catalytic converters contain platinum (at least they used to, not sure if they still do) and there is some gold in there as well.

Back in the 90's, kids would cut off your converter and sell them for scrap at $500 each. That is also why there is such a large price difference between brands of converters...some don't contain exotic metals and burn out rapidly.

Air bags can also cost up to $1,000 to replace, so used ones can go for $500 on the open market pretty easily.

Like I said though, most people don't have the time or space to strip down a car for parts, but a salvage yard can make a big profit pretty quick.
