filter bags

A few months ago I ordered some of the mytee filter bags/socks. They are socks, ladies nylons. When I got them my wife grabbed a few pairs.
So I use them on my rc99. They are a tight fit. But what I noticed is the crud that it filters slides down to the bottom of the sock. So the air restriction(from filling up) doesnt happen as soon. Stuff doesn't stick to the side like joes bags. Don't get me wrong, I like joes bags. I don't have to wash down the sides as often. BUT when I take the sock out it is one BIG clump of crud.
And the price for mytee's... $6-7 for 25.

Those Piglets are way too small for my RC99, so I get the big RC size elastic liners from Joe and use them all week before having to replace it.

Just washing it down daily keeps the air flow at max.

When I used those Piglets on my pool filter the sides would pack up quick!............you must have gotten the Teflon coated ones. laughing

I think they are just 2 gallon paint strainers Davey, check home depot paint section

Yes nylons do work they are a little tight to get to fit. White liners(5gallon paint strainer) are made of POLY.....what does POLY LOVE?
Oil so if you are working on heavy oily type soil sometimes a nylon is better,
I just take white liner out if the oils give me a problem.

Not elastic tho..............2 or 5 gal.

And even tho many don't think it's worth having the right liner for the price, it's well worth the .75 cents a week they cost to me. laughing

Yes .75 cents for us too, I don't understand how you can get much cheaper, I use mine for at least two weeks, the filters are so big its not like you gotta make it perfectly dirt free, just a fast rinse dump it out and go to next job.

Filter bags are like diapers; one you take em off-- in the garbage they go. Tried rinsing and re using one... Once(filter bag, not diaper). Not worth it to me to hassle with cleaning a bag.

I only need to toss mine once a week, But I do wash it down once a day, just to flush the debris down and keep the air flowing good.

I like to use them a little longer than need be, just so I know first hand, when I tell some one X amount of time I know because I do it.

Do you hit them with a disinfectant at least to prevent the odor build-up?

I would like to extend the usage, but I'm afraid of leaving a putrefied glob in my van's filter....I have enough trouble keeping my tank fresh.

I guess I could just give it a try.... Smile

My wife is very O.C.D which keeps me at bay when it comes to odors and cleanliness. I'm glad she stays away from my work van. What was the chemical called, to put in waist tanks?

Only if you're using a small pool filter.

They're way to small for a larger filter. Unless you want to be constantly cleaning and replacing them. They're women's foot stockings, so that should give you an idea of size compared to a filter like the RC99.

Depends on the tank.

Is it aluminum, ss, poly, cardboard?

Thankfully its not cardboard. lol its ss.

SS tanks are pretty forgiving. An aluminum tank can develop holes if you use a bleach-type chemical. Cardboard tanks require baking soda. Very Happy

On a butler waste tank, you will probably never win fully as they seem to be angled slightly to the point that you can never fully drain them out. Try parking with the rear of the van on an incline...that helps a little and air them out in the summer (drain open and lid off).

On longer storage, those RV grey water additives work wonders, but too expensive for daily usage. There are some TSP type tabs that you can toss in there that come from the RV world (it was mentioned in a previous post).

What I have started doing is a spot deodorizing by sucking a cupful of Odoban into the filter with the butler on low speed. The scent is nice and will suck through the blower as it creates the negative vacuum in your tank.

It doesn't do anything long-term, but it will give you a pleasant scent on start-up rather than the foul cabbage odor that seems to develop at times.

on my filrter the liner last at least 2 months and only takes 10 sec to rinse after every job. when I had the pool filter I dispose the stocking after every job.

The mytee filter fits the rc99 internal filter...barely. Its alright fit.

I wonder how surgical gauze would work for our filters?

Air flow is still good down to micron sized in air filters...could we get a re-usable filter like a K & N cartridge?

I don't understand the cheapness here.

We are taking about .75 per week, or in francisco p case .75 every two months for the correct liner for the filter. Are you really that much of a cheap-a$$? LOL

I hate to see guys make it so hard on themselves, so I apologize for trying to help.......let me know and I'll buy some liners for you, if you can't charge your customers the extra .5 per job to cover them. wink

Cough...Cough....replacing them daily is .75 too, should be able to add that much to a full day's of work.

For $180 per year, you get maximum air flow and less odor.

I dont rinse them, just new filter each day or so. You can take the basket after rinsing and turn upside down to dump out a big lump of crud... I just prefer to throw the thing away after 2-3 jobs, .75c isnt much after that much gross.

you can easily find a way to charge the customers an extra .75c so you dont have to bother spraying them down etc
