Re: Who turned off the lights
Same here buddy, I'm receiving 6 telemarketers daily, but the customers are few and far between right now. Also, like you, it was the same way last year with a small spike mid-November.
Things can and often do change suddenly, so I just stay ready for another rush.

You must have a lot of Federal employees in your service area. If they receive retro pay like in previous years, they will go on a spending spree!!Davey Cracker wrote:Yup since the day the wonderful Gov shutdown, so did my business!

I hope you're right about the spending spree! Most people I know around here that got furloughed aren't spending a dime. This is twice this year for a lot of people to lose a weeks pay (including my family). It doesn't give you a lot of confidence to spend when you can't count on your paycheck.

That what my Ex said to me when I told her this. In her words "you have that many Customers that are Gov employees"?!milspec6 wrote:You must have a lot of Federal employees in your service area. The answer is NO! I'd guess only 1% or so of my customers are Federal employees or are directly affected by this shutdown.
I believe, people are scared and worried by this latest turn of events and and are afraid to spend money, or have put non-necessary spending on hold for now........Really no different than when the economy took a dump a couple years ago.
Tell you what, it has me WORRIED, really worried!

There is also the new insurance mandates to contend with since many premiums have gone up as a result. Losing a few hundred a month due to premium increases don't help us either. That being said, cleaning carpets is far cheaper than replacing, so we aren't going anywhere.
(Look at that, a political topic that affects our business, being discussed:roll: )

That is true, Robert.
The insurance deal..........just one more thing to add.

Re: Who turned off the lights
They feds are getting back pay, so the spending spree is on its way...trust me.
Today, I ended up over-booking for next week with bout 35,000 sqft commercial, 2 grocery stores (entries and bathroom tiles), 3 apartments, 1 house, and a stone cleaning job. For me, this is a big week as I still have to cram a 60 hour work week at the day job. I actually don't know how I am going to get it all done as they had specific day requests, but I'm not turning anything down this time of year.
So, trust me, the spending spree is on the way in your area as well!!

Kind of weird huh T. It seems like everyone in your area got together and decided that there were not going to be calling you.
Did you call your phone to make sure it's working?
